Their IS CTF in this game

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:46 am

You know when you have to take the "package" from target a to target b? And if you drop it the enemy can return it to target a?

Yeah, that's CTF.

Well your right, but is kinda hard to get my daily fix of CTF goodness if I have to vote for refuel or the other one and hope that map gets chosen.

This has probably been said before, but I think it would be fun if the defending team had to take it back instead of it magically returning when you touch it.

Start your own Freeplay if you want a CTF fix, bots seem to be fixed on PS3.

Or just get your vote in before anybody else, the first map to be voted on is selected if there's no clear winner by the end of the vote.

Not the same, it's a ctf variant where only 1 side gets a flag.

So they can pick it up and have the carrier run back to their spawn?

Yeah, there's a reason why they didn't do that... Protecting the "flag" with invulnerable superturrets doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

I was thinking back to its original location, but I can see people doing that. I bet there'd be a way to prevent that, but it's probably not worth it.

i have seen teams not 'take it back' and just camp the spot where its dropped. sometimes its easier for them if you drop it in a bad place.

its a total rush though getting it to the location. and with a good team defending you its like american football with blockers :)

But then they could just run into their spawn and wait out the time.

good point. this is why CTF objectives have always been like this.

This argument sounds familiar...

I think that's why...

It is kind of a flawed plan.

sorry op, but no. Just because there is one obj on a particular part of a map that is sorta similar to ctf does not mean that there is ctf in this game.

thats like saying "oh you soldiers can blow thru walls on some obj, this game has destructible environments" its not the same

I agree with you. The only solution would be to have the actual capture point for a "flag" to be somewhere outside the spawn area. And if you enter the spawn area with the flag you'll drop it. But again, the original problem still arises if the flag is "dropped" directly in front of the doorway of a spawn. There's no easy solution.

umm i meant monotomous if you ever read my posts i am a horrible speeler when it comes to tpyin so (which isnt grammer its key board defficiency)-ill give you that one that was probably just a grammatical mistake

its not really ctf we both dont have a *flag* one team has INTEL not really a FLAG-- large time differnece to me besides its so one sided cause your teams gonna get ghetto blasted because its always really close to their spawn and far from yours-- maybe multiple intel grabs all smothered into one match with noother major objectives??

Whatever the objective is, it functions the same way flags do in CTF.

And just because there aren't similar objectives for both teams, doesn't invalidate it being a CTF-equivalent - there are CTF games that work the same way as those missions in Brink.

actually as it is now, if you run into your spawn area with the "flag" (gas can, data key) it just automaticly returns it to its original spot.
I found this out accidently while trying to escape with the data key and wound up trying to run back through where our turrets were,
which returned it back to the safe. :banghead:

That's when the people trying to CAPTURE it take it to their spawn though. Not when the people defending it do.

Although it's good to know that happens. Trouble is, does it happen before you reach the turret's detection area? I know the voice "warning" never kicks in until after the turrets open fire...
