Daggerfall is complicated, confusing, and has way more than anyone could do in a sane amount of time. Its locations are semi-random, names shift between games, etc etc. This is because the Dragon Break was actively going on during the course of the game, so nothing ever stayed the same!
Morrowind presented complex systems designed to alienate. It was never easy to imagine what would be behind the next door, and the confusing dispersal of weapon and armor types highlight this. Uniqueness was abundant, so adaptability required long amounts of effort. Life in Morrowind is harsh indeed, and tested the endurance -- physical and mental -- of those who came their way.
Oblivion was the land of Imperials. A safe, sheltered land with little might and order when push came to shove. The stark contrast of the massively deadly oblivion realms and the diplomatic quests surrounding the cities offered predictable, yet often overpowering, challenges to those who walked the edge.
Skyrim...Everyone's obsessed with death. Combat is all anyone has been doing there for decades. Words are few, and actions prove more valuable than coin or smiles. Those who cannot fight, die.
...So yeah, thats it in a nutshell! Its retconning the games to fit into the gameplay mechanics! Just my own silliness though
