TheNiceOne's nice-to-have mods

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:12 am

It doesn't sound correct. Did the install script complain that it didn't find some files during the installation? It does so if the file structure of the omod is incorrect. What could have happened is that you extracted some of the files into the MMM folder into a sub-folder instead of directly into the folder.

So go and check the MMM folder you created. Are all .esp/.esm files directly inside it, or are some in sub-folders inside it? If some are in sub-folders then you need to move the files up to the main MMM folder. Similarly, if any of the "textures", "meshes", "Sound" etc. folders are within sub-folders, they must be moved up to the MMM folder too.

If you right-click on the omod and select "Edit omod" and then wait for the omod creation window again, you will see a list of all the plugins that are part of the omod. If any of those are listed within sub-folders, you have got it wrong.

Yes, it sounds like that. So check the folder structure and report back.

Indeed that was the problem. The sub-folders. I moved them all to the main folder and it didn't complain about sub folder or anything when I clicked "Create OMOD". It is compressing now and I am sure will get it.

Thank you for all your help! :)

Just dropped by to say thanks for all your work. You have successfully replaced (and enhanced) two long-standing staples of my Oblivion install by creating Enhanced Economy and Map Marker Overhaul, so a big thank you for that. I also very much appreciate all your OMOD scripts. Keep up the good work!!

wow, i installed a huge list of mods this week and started to play with a new character.
Everytime I rested this Pellew guy came and killed me.
I tried resting at campsites and running as hard as I could if he showed up, but nothing worked..
I had no clue which mod this could be part of.
I also had Real Sleep installed, so staying awake was not an option.
Thanks so much for making the delayer! Now I play the game again! :goodjob:

That character is from Tears of the Fiend (I bet a good google search would have told you that too). You could also try searching for Quest delayers on Nexus to find the fix or disable the mod till your level 15-20.

Qbit and January:

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them :)

Psymon: I think his point was that he was happy for my TotF delayer, not that he was looking for it.

Hi TheNiceOne.

I thought I'd be cheeky and slightly hijack your thread and ask for some unrelated advice. (See what happens when you're so helpfull)

I know you use Enhanced Weather and OMOD's so I'm hoping you can quickly help me. I have installed EW 1.3.5 via OMOD script supplied with download. Then I have made an OMOD in normal fasion for Patch 1.3.9. It is showing in OBMM as black.
I assume this is because of the new ESM that 1.3.9 provides. Is it a simple matter of unticking the ESM for 1.3.5 in OBMM then deleting it and then activating patch 1.3.9? Or is there another step I need to take?

This is correct. Black means that installing the omod will overwrite an esp or esm file that is already installed (red means the same for resources).

Is it a simple matter of unticking the ESM for 1.3.5 in OBMM then deleting it and then activating patch 1.3.9? Or is there another step I need to take?
No, it's even simpler. It's a simple matter of installing the 1.3.9 patch and then answering yes to any questions of overwriting existing files.

Hi again TheNiceOne.

Once again to the rescue promptly. People such as yourself really help us less mod literate ones, enjoy the modded OBL experience.

One other small issue. I notice EW Patch requires OBSE 18 beta. I am using 17b. I take it I will need to update to the beta. (latest version 18beta4) OBSE don't say how to upgrade.
I assume replacing the 3 required components in the Oblivion directory. 17b had 4 components. Do you think I would need to delete the one not used in 18beta4?

If you'd rather me direct this to OBSE thread, I won't be offended.

Hi NiceOne!

I'm popping in simply to thank you for taking the time to make Real Sleep Extended. I'm really loving it and it works perfectly with Real Thirst and Real Hunger.
I simply love such mods because they allow you to take a break from time to time, instead of constantly running and killing monsters. :P

Thanks again and keep up the good work! :celebration:

No problem :) Remove the 4th component from OBSE 17. It does no harm, but no good either - it gave support for older Oblivion version that has now been removed.

Cliffworms: thanks :)

Changelog:

1.2: Added support for RAEVWD 1.6, and corrected one script error

You know, you could just name your version after RAEVWD, easier to grasp what version goes to what. And if you change something you could just add a digit, like v 1.6.1.

To bad I already installed it, but then again I might remove mine and add yours - much cleaner and nicer than my bunch of omod for different folders :D

Cheers!

I thought about that. So maybe I'll get around to change it :)

It turned out that both of yesterday's upgrades had problems, so they're now both updated again:

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=881496 is now updated to version 2.3.2, and http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1045975 to version 2.1.4.

Hi TheNiceOne.

Now Using your Map Marker Overhaul. Well done again.

I have a selfish type request. You obviously play the game (I read somewhere you use nearly 200 mods) as well as helping others out with mod creations and OMOD help. I would be very interested in a list of what mods you personally use.

Is that hard to do? I am always looking for additions and improvements to my install and would be very interested seeing what mod makers use. Not looking for any details about the mods just a list would be fine.

Please dont go to too much trouble. You have been very helpful as it is.

It's not hard to do at all, but I'm currently in the middle of a quite large reinstallation (an accident had all my mods uninstalled, and I haven't installed all again yet), so I'll finish my reinstall first. When I was busy looking for mods a year or so ago, I found many interesting mods by looking at other people's mod list, so I'm just happy to list mine.

Thanks for the Modlist TheNiceOne. (Sorry I took a little long with the acknowledgement. I did look at it the day after you posted, but between working 6 days a week and caring for my disabled daughter, sometimes I feel too drained to post.)

There's A few there that I don't currently use, that look interesting. I'll do some research on them and see if they're for me. Actually one of them (eyja) I had spied on Hobbs webpage at The Firing Squad and was wanting to have a crack at.
I decided to temporarily leave it as I wanted to research body beautifull type mods to compliment things. Which leads me to another request.

I would be very interested in knowing what texture mods you use. The list you posted were esp and esm based mods, so none of the others (RAEVWD, QTP3 body replacers etc) were shown. I suppose this was due to the program that you use to collate the list, doesn't show the textures type mods.

If thats the case it probably would require a fair bit of work to manually list those. If so, ignore my request. Its just that, to me, the basic platform of how good the game looks is built around the texture mods (taking into account ones personal computer limitations).

Also (to me) they are the most confusing of all the mods to collate (despite or because of dev_akm's wonderful TOTO guide). So a list of what one player (ie-you) has chosen to use as his/her "masterpiece" is a huge help (as opposed to, "here's a list of whats available - choose some from these").

I hope the above makes sense.

Regards

Graham

PS. Please don't feel any obligation to follow through. I already appreciate what you have done to help.

Yep, I used Wrye Bash to list all esp/esm files. I don't use too many texture mods, but I can give a list later today (probably). I install all texture replacers as omods, so I can use OBMM to get the list.

I'm not the right person to ask for this, as the texture replacers have never been too important for me, but I can give you my list anyway :)
