I may still post more theories if there's a demand for them, but I'll have to see what happens at QuakeCon first.
EDIT: back on topic, there are some really good ideas on here. Keep 'em coming

Get back to it gkk7z! I mean, if you want to. I have a lot of fun reading your theories and have had some interesting discussions with a good friend at work. We are both geared towards getting this game so it helps us pass the time to have something to talk about.
To quote Veronica (FONV), "It's a free wasteland". Make all of the topics you like. I will bestow you with a Theoretical Degree in Speculation and Topic Development.
Really, it's not hurting anyone and we are free to read them or not read them. You have a lot of interesting ideas ... maybe too many ideas? Do you have some inside info?
Okay seriously now, I am not going to speculate on my own because you & everyone else has already come with all of the good ideas. I had originally thought the MC might be an android (or his conscious self transferred to an android) but that got shot down pretty quickly.
I'm going to be honest - at first, when you came up with some theory I was like "wtf? it's a trailer, some breadcrumbs and an old leak - this guy should get some sunlight", but as days went by and more breadcrumbs became available, it became more and more intriguing. To the point where most of your speculations seemed highly probable to me.
This is not least due to your style of presentation - concise and backed up with observations.
So, if you ask me: keep it up!
This is the essence of what forums are about. In particular, the gamesas forums. It's a very old community, and I don't agree with a lot of people on the boards, but that's what keeps it going.
Don't beat yourself up over it. People don't have to either read or like your threads- and you don't have to care what they think. So speak your mind. As long as you are courteous, that's what this forum is partially about.
OP has been updated. It's clear that many of you enjoy reading the theories, and so I will be posting up some brand new ideas a bit closer to QuakeCon.
Thank you all once again for your support!
I might hate the idea of the date for the game being anything after 2277 but that does not mean your threads aren't great...they are.
Im hoping (hoping) that MW or WC BoS have come to take the institutes tech with or without force (hell ya). Most likely they want all the tech and to either destory or re-enslave the androids also creating a major BoS base at MIT. Meanwhile the institute is unaware of their (BoS) intentions and instead trying to fuel an all out assault against the railroad insurgents. The railroad most likely lead by white knight scientist and angry androids, are also planning to rid the institute of their scientist and take MIT over (setting androids free and continuing scientific studies without slavery). Meanwhile the PC will most likely have the option of going it alone and destoring all or some of the above factions and taking MIT for himself to do.......well im not sure.
And that's what I think the main story is.....ohh ya and throw in some attempt to make you care about your family too.
Don't let anybody bring ya down brotha; I enjoy reading your theories. Personally, I'm of the opinion that we can't definitively say much about the plot, other than the following:
-The game takes place 200 years after the bombs drop (literally 200 years, and thus fairly co-current with the fallout 3 story; I could be proven wrong here, but the devs seem to have been pretty adamant about it being exactly 200 years).
-The central focus with involve the Brotherhood of Steel (either Lyon's BoS, Midwest BoS, or both) and the Institute, with a very safe bet on the Institute being the main antagonists.
What I'm most excited to see is more in game footage so I can keep matching up landmarks to the Boston area; as a native, I'm incredibly excited to see what aspects of my state make the cut and how true to life they physically keep everything in relation to each other. I know because it's a videogame there are going to be huge liberties taken with the world layout, but the more accurate placements they can squeeze in there the happier I'll be (nothing beats being able to go "that Revolutionary War Monument is right down the street from me in real life!")
I have to say, Boston is now top of my list of places I want to visit IRL. It must actually be very cool to see the game unfolding around you, quite literally!
And for the record, I would actually trade all of my theories in a heartbeat just for the opportunity
The game literally unfolding about me? You mean... this is all just a beautiful dream in the Memory Den, and any moment now I could wake up in the middle of this appalling dystopia?!
But... but I'm not a prime protagonist! At least... I'm pretty sure I'm not. How will I ever survive? The best I could hope for is to be the comic relief, and what if I get blown away for the feelz??!! I mean, when the comic relief dies, it's never quick. They always have to last long enough to gurgle something witty and poignant.
No, no I can't be the comic relief, I'm just not funny enough. At least I'll go quickly. It's all I can hope for .
The good thing about playing a Bethesda game is that we're always the lead role, as well as the creative director. And so we can turn it into any kind of experience we want to. Besides, there are usually a few wacky NPCs who can cover the comic relief side of things for us. Just ask Moira Brown
First of all, welcome to the forums! Has anyone given you a http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/tesfanon/images/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081112192239 yet?
Second, it wouldn't surprise me to see some goofy little quest like that. What if it was something like dumping Nuka Cola? I would have to tip my hat to gamesas.
I'm also excited to see how they handle Fenway Park. Or maybe they'll have an NPC named.... "Fenway Parks"
It's a tradition friend, no problem! Haha but an irradiated harbor would certainly be grounds for a water purifier
I have posted in some of your other threads a few theories, but I will re-iterate one of mine here, and add a question back to the thread.
I think once we get in the vault that we will be assigned our vault job, and then get to pick our tag skills, the job may well be based off of those tags. Or, we could be assigned a job based on our SPECIAL scores like Fallout Shelter. In Shelter, placing someone in the room that best uses their highest SPECIAL score gets the best results. At some point inside the vault a major system "fails", or we are led to believe it fails, and then rushed into the cryo tubes as our sole means of surviving until things calm down outside.
Once we awaken I think we can discover info on our spouse and child via terminals inside, find our first bobblehead, a weapon and the Pipboy. The gameplay shown at E3 shows us rising from the vault with the Pipboy on, despite it sounding like Todd says we find it outside the vault.
Now the question: Does anyone else find it odd that our first question to Codsworth is "What happened?" This implies memory loss which does not make sense. Why show us the explosion and then act like our character has no memory of it? Wouldn't it make sense that one of the first questions a father or mother, husband or wife, would ask when getting home is where the other and or child are? Or maybe if they have been there? Do we not ask because we know, or think we know, what happened to them?
If the point of giving us the family, and the pre-war setting is to give us a sense of what was lost, why then would they have memory loss as part of the story? I realize there was some time jump in the gameplay demo, but I still find that question to be odd.
Welcome aboard from me as well, now your stuck in it. hehehe
But don't toss that tea, sure beats straight rad water. Ill drink it.
Also the skill/ perk thing is still kinda confusing me.
If it did change what do you think Educated will do now, and what are the chances instead of starting with 3 tags you get 3 perks to sorta define you character at the start? (Hopefully I am not behind on asking this)
New thread should be up within next 24-48 hours with possible 'big reveal'. Watch this space
Rubbing my hands together and licking lips.
(err I also happen to have a box of Popeye's fried chicken in front of me, which is regional i suppose and honestly not very good chicken, so waiting on yer post hehe)
Hey Grim you want a fishy stick, and welcome hehe. Drops one down. (l feel dizzy like I just time traveled)
