theory about the tanker in fallout 2

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:13 am

in fallout 2 there is the a tanker called PMV Valdez and the parts are found in vault 13 and navarro i think the enclave where origionaly going to use it to transport the vault 13 people on the tanker judging by where the parts are found since the 1 part is in navarro which is where the enclave refuel there vertibirds and the other part is in vault 13. they where planing to have them taken to the oil rig from the tanker but since san fransisco was populated by more people than the enclave suspected they had to use the vertibirds

this is just a theory

The Tanker was disabled by the Enclave as it was a method of reaching the Oil Rig, the parts in Vault 13 are probably not from the Tanker, but rather, just common electrical components. The FOB was probably secured in Navarro because the Enclave may have intended to use it again at some point, I do believe that somewhere it is suggested that even the mutants populating the Tanker were placed there by the 'clave.

I don't think too much should be read into it. The Navcom parts in V13 are there as a mcguffin to force you to go there. Its a gameplay choice.

Besides having all those vault dwellers walk through the desert would be a bad idea. They wouldn't be "mostly radiation free" as required for the Curling Experiments. And surely they'd check the route they were planning on going before commiting anything.

The theory also doesnt really account for the drifters, who seem to have been there for some time.

The Enclave abandoned the Tanker. They made it so it could not be used. First step if they were going to use it to get the people of Vault 13 to the Rig would have been to kill all the people living on it as well as all the creatures.

My hope is we see the Tanker again, with stories about other parts of the world.
