Is there any new content in the Special Edition base game?

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:40 am

If mods are no longer a thing on the PS4 (this is not a post to have an argument as to why that is), is there anything at all that would make purchasing the Special Edition worth it for the PS4 - new quests/locations? Restoration of cut quests like the longer version of Blade in the Dark and the Civil War? Fixes to bugs that were never patched?

Looking through the Bethesda website I wasn't really able to figure out a clear answer.

Is there any reason at all for PS4 players who have already played through the base game and DLCs on another console to purchase this edition?

No new content, no. It will look and play smoother, but imo a visual upgrade isn't worth paying full price for a 5 year old game.

From the guys who have youtube channels about Elder scrolls.

1 guy has been pretty good, he finds the trademarks that bethesda files, and so far, they have been correct for fallout4. their 2 dlc, were filed, and found, long before being announced.

Sounds like Valenwood would be the DLC. But like i said, purely rumors. But it has had a trademark filed in past year, i believe(could be longer).

Maybe no one knows.

Most likely no though.

I do find it interesting when people say that Bethesda Game Studios will never develop a new expansion pack to sell.

They never did remasters yet now they have.

first of all, random people on youtube are not really credible sources (I could post a video on my channel saying TESVI will be a Harry Potter Crossover, doesn't mean its true)..

second, they would never use an actual province as DLC, as a full game sure, but not DLC

Quite right. To the op I would say be wary of those on this forum who give you emphatic no's to your question. It's almost certain they too were the ones who gave emphatic no's to this remaster happening in the first place.

I could have missed something, but as far as I can see, Zenimax Media didn't file for any trademark obviously connected to Valenwood. Was the YouTuber referring to Project Greeenheart perhaps? It was from a leaked E3 2014 memo, which was fake but raised new questions when it turned out that the "leaker" correctly predicted Nuka World. Either way, the name was most likely meant as a code name for TES VI, not a Skyrim DLC.

It does seem plausible that PS4 players could get something as a result of this mod let down.

Question is, this close to release, what would be a good deal breaker?

Unless Beth themselves inform about something, don't expect any new content. Beth never promised anything new and chance of it happening is basically zero.

PS4 mod support falling apart has absolutely no effect on whether there'll be something new or not.

Looks strange that they are pushing so much on fallout , that had so few success compared to Skyrim that had a lot of success.

No one can honesty say one way or another....Bethesda has been known to suddenly announce unexpected extras....and just as easily fly in the face of all the vociferous and expectant rumour mills by not doing anything especially wanted or suspected.

It would be nice if they just implemented a couple of hundred of the worst offending bug fixes....screamingly obvious to us....but not a peep from Bethesda!

Speculating is sadly pointless...Beth are a law unto themselves and enjoy keeping everyone guessing....really!

ZeniMax Media Inc., Bethesda Softworks, and Bethesda Game Studios doesn't have to promise anything new.

They can just announce the expansion pack to sell for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition after a few months after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is released for sale.

I doubt Bethesda will spend time and resources making a DLC package for a five year old game. The SE isn't even going to include any new bugfixes which would definitely take way less effort than an entirely new questline.

Do you have a source that confirms they're not fixing any bugs or do you just magically know this?

ZeniMax Media Inc., Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios can earn millions of dollars (USD) from selling one last expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition for $40 dollars (USD).

If 1+ million copies of that expansion pack sells that's $40 million dollars (USD) and if 5+ million copies sells that's $200+ million dollars (USD) they earn.

I have a feeling The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition can sell up to 5+ million copies.

I don't have any sources so I'm not 100% sure but if Bethesda hasn't announced any new bug fixes for the SE by now, there almost certainly won't be any.
