Is there any side quests truly worth doing>

i have beaten the main quest shivering isles and kotn and done quite a bit in side quests but most that i have found havent provided either a challange or a good reward so i was wondering if there any good ones? also im on the ps3 so no mods unless i get on my computer version. and one more thing i have been searching SI forever and have not found a madness matrix for the longsword does anyone know where that is?

Gosh, I'm not sure I can help much since which quests are 'truly worth doing' is so very subjective. My character tends to take an approach that focuses on the journey more than the destination or 'beating' quests, so she can make hunting for stolen potatoes a blast.

Umbaccano's quests are kind of interesting. Depending on you character, I find the Thieves Guild questline to be a sweet love story. I like Caught in the Hunt for its fun concept. I adore helping Mazoga the orc (once you get to know her). I find Sanguine's shrine loads of fun. Azura's shrine is a fun challenge. Again, all of this is subjective. If you have done quite a few of the side quests and don't find much fun there, then I suspect you may be done.

There are plenty of ways to increase the challenge, and many of those ways do not require PC/mods - simply choose to limit what your character can do/use or bump the difficulty slider. Maybe start a new character designed to provide more of a challenge?

On the rewards, it just depends so much on your character. The only quest item my character wants in the whole game is Azura's Star. Even that however would be somewhat useless to a pure (no melee) mage. Just like the holy warhammer of awesomesauce would not be of much interest to a swordswoman.

i have done the deadric quests and am master of the fighters guild and working slowly on the theives guild maybe i should use some not so strong weapons or stop blocking to make it harder seeing as the difficulty bar is pretty much all the way up. I guess after level 75 the game loses challange. but i will find stuff and the kind of quests i was more or less hoping to find are ones that have a bit of a story to them like the one where you recieve the shield of chorrol.

I think many of the side quests are more interesting than many MQ or Guild quests.

But not necessary because of the challenge or reward. More for the objective, story, or something else.

Whether they are worth doing for you is up to you, and can't be objectively answered I think. For example, Caught in the Hunt, Through a Nightmare Darkly, and Brush with Death are all nice stories. But not necessarily challenging. And the rewards from all three are lousy. But I definitely think they are worth doing. But that is my opinion.

As far as rewards go, many of the Daedric rewards are great. Like Peryite's quest. Also the small questline that begins with Reynald Jemane (The Gray Mare in Chorrol) has a great reward at the end.

Mages Guild is a hell of a Blast even if you aren't a Magic user. The whole story behind it is awesome and the final fight can be entertaining at times. I like to try and collect at least one of every book aswell so prehaps that would be a good challange as some of them there is only actually one or two copies.

Umbaccano's quest line is very impressive and I have to agree with Acadian. I've been a fan of Aylied Lore since I first started playing ES so loved doing these quests and had lots of fun doing it. There are so many Aylied Ruins that it just seems to me like they all have their own story.

Have you also tried doing the Arena? Although you can get through it quite quick it can provide a good challange I find.

You could also look at prehaps doing the DB quests aswell. They have a nice storyline behind them and can provide challanges in quite a few ways.

Level 75? :whistling: That's a lot of exploiting.

If I were in your shoes, I'd start a new character, and try to see the world of Tamriel through new eyes. Don't go for the big quests or the "best" weapons. Right now, I'm playing a low-level Alchemist, spending most of my time fighting off wolves and bandits, and scared to death of stepping inside that scary-looking cave. That's when the game is best, when your character doesn't have a clue about what's happening next.

If you're at level 75, the difficulty bar isn't the problem - it's the fact that you've used whatever exploits you used to get to level 75 in the first place.

The maximum a character can get to legitimately is level 53, so the game was designed to max out about there. It wasn't designed to compensate for people using exploits to go beyond that level.

Well, there is the Oghma Infinium, which can possibly raise your maximum a couple of levels higher, if the skills it affects are major, and you do it when they are already maxed. But anything beyond that is definitely an exploit, like "draining and training" or going to jail repeatedly.

And that 53 you mention only applies if all the major skills start at 25, meaning none of them are skills boosted by racial benefits or one's specialty. The normal character max is going to be more like the high 40s.

thank you everybody i have decided to just start again with a different approach the last game was a more see what all i can accomplish in a short amount of time since it was my first time playing a vanilla oblivion. this time im going to take glargg's advice and try and keep a low level

I always used to start new characters whenever i reached around lvl 30-40.
but now with my 4-5 latest characters i haven't started before i completed all of the quests/maxed my possible lvl.
I find that much more fun and satisfying than just start new characters all the time.

Sorry if I came off a little too pointy/snarky in my post :) But yeah, that's the thing to do. A lot of the quests can still be fun with a new character and a new approach to problem solving. That, or just running around in the remote wilderness, exporing forts and ruins you might have missed, and not really worrying about quests if you don't want to.

Doing "Accidents Happen"(Dark Brotherhood) gives you a huge advantage early in the game. The reward you get, Sufferthorn, an enchanted dagger with Damage Health enchantments packs quite a punch.

Also, "The Lonely Wanderer" gives you the bow Shadowhunt. It's very strong with both Damage Magicka and Damage Health enchantments, Turn Undead and Weakness to Poison.
Extremely powerful in the hands of a stealth marksman at the earlier levels of the game.

No surprise, but you shuld really try to kill Umbra for the sword. Just jump on top of one of the pillars and blast away!

And I strongly rcommend that you buy the Manor in anvil and do "Where Spirits Have Lease". You get a very big house cheap, and the Lich you kill at the end offers some nice loot.
