Is there any spooky places like the Dunwhich Building in NV?

the Old gods are not demons.

although it would have been nice to have been able to summon one :) Forget blowing up megaton. I want to summon an Old God to devour whats left of the Capital Wasteland

Vault 34 blows Dunwich Building out of the water. (Granted Dunwich Building was a boring building to begin with though)

I'm going to have to disagree. Vault 34 was just a ghoul infested vault with an armory (not much back story to it other than a civil war breaking out I believe). The Dunwich Building was so intense though. I remember going in there and having it be completely quiet. I picked up notes that were like cookie crumbs leading me to the end of the maze with the notes getting crazier and crazier. It was dark and the ghouls would be around corners and when I finally got to the bottom I felt like I actually discovered something that wasn't "congratulations you killed a bunch of ghouls, heres a gun". The thought of reward wasn't what compelled me to go deeper, it was the thought of finding out what really happened. Nothing in FONV has compelled me like that yet.

Dunwich Building wasn't creepy, it was just dull. Lovecraftian horror is overdone and was never even remotely frightening. Now, if you want something a bit frightening in a game, play the Shalebridge Cradle level in Thief: Deadly Shadows.

That said, there are certainly far more interesting locations in New Vegas than there was in FO3. Every vault, for instance.

I had a different experience. I knew from the word Dunwich exactly what I was going to find in the building. I found it to be very tedious to piece together a story when I already knew what the ending was going to approximately be. It was way too obvious of a pop culture reference to really have an effect on me.

I think every vault in FO:NV has had a story worth delving into, especially the vault gift shop in the strip.

Well in your case, maybe not. I was unaware of Lovecraft's story so it was a mystery for me. Fallout has been all about pop culture references though, so I appreciate the background to it. As for the vaults, I think the vaults in FONV were definitely more interesting, but the vaults in FO3 were scarier. Vault 87 was incredibly creepy the first time I played through it as well as the one where you see hallucinations. But I agree, FONV vaults had more story to them.

Vault 34 gave me chills, I think even if Feral Ghouls weren't constantly screaming, I'd still be a terrified.

Say what you will, i think Camp Guardian is seriously messed up, that place, what happened, those men did not deserve it. The sad part isn't that they died, it's that nobody came to look for them. They were put out there after a half-assed inspection by some appointee, and had to make due with a horribly decayed pre-war picnic area as their camp, rebuild the fences and bridges, while the place was infested with Radscorpions and Cazadores. What happened to them was not the sad thing, per say, it is that they were put into that position by the higher ups and then left for dead. Nobody cared about the people who were there, nobody cared about those who died.

The worst vault is a meaningless distinction imo. They are all awesome. Sure, one could be called the worst but that implies that it svcks, when all it means is "least awesome."

Vault 34 scared the crap out of me because I got lost in it, lol. And I ran out of radaway and stimpaks and there were so many ghouls, I was even running out of ammo at one point. The atmosphere was a bit creepy, but nothing compared to some of the vaults in FO3, like the one in which you find Fawkes. That was fine by me though, I don't play games to be scared.

IMO the scariest place in either the Capital Wasteland or the Mojave Wasteland was the sewers under Old Olney. On that note, Dunwich bugged the crap out of me. I went down there before I did the Black Heart quest and found it to be a monumental waste of time. My favorite buildings in the Capital Wasteland were the Museum of History, National Archives and National Guard Armory. All three had all those historical bits and pieces, as well as the "oh [censored]! there's something behind me!" moments.

New Vegas doesn't have as many of those areas. I'm not a huge fan of crawling through vaults, though 22 was a lot of fun, and had a cool sci-fi story to it. REPCONN Headquarters was fun, if small, but in the end New Vegas isn't the same kind of game as FO3. And for the most part we shouldn't be complaining. The makers of FO3 recieved complaints that it didn't look enough like the older games. So FONV was put in the desert, with less dungeon crawling and less historical research available.

Personally I'm hoping OWB ends up looking alot like the Capital Wasteland.

Vault 11 was pretty spooky. Nothing as scary as Yankee Radio from F3 though.

What vault 34 and dunwich building are nearly the same ones a vault ones a building, both of em gots lots of ghouls and dunwich had a deeper story and more mystery than vault 34 in my opinion and the holotapes in sanwhich building made that place more creepy and alive. Vauly 34 was like vault 3 just lots enemies crammed together which was fun seeing how there are very few places with lots of enemies

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_34 is by far the most scariest in the game other than that theres really not many and maybe Vault 22.

But Dunwich is far scary out of all the fallout games.

Aww why is everyone afraid of ghouls(unless its your first time I wouldn't blame ya) but once you realize how squishy they are you'll no longer be scared

Vault 34 did have a story... a very good one in fact. Why do you think there is an armory there? And the Ghouls? And how do you think the Boomer's came to be?

When I went into Vault 34, I got my ass handed to me several times. It took a lot of careful gunplay to wipe out those ghouls. I think I was like level 10 though.

Honestly, Vault 34 can be quite daunting the first time, but after your first time clearing it, it's cakewalk.

I'd say it depends on your level.

I'm sure I could make it substantially more difficult for a second time through.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dunwich_Building, < like that with the creepy ghost, and so-fourth.

So there you go.

Vault 11 is kind of creepy. FONV doesn't have that many interesting places. It's more of a sit in a dialog box and listen to someone's story you don't care about than a game where you have to actively investigate to find out what happened. Like with Arefu or Andale or Canterbury Commons. Or the Dunwich Building. Obviously I like challenge and activity more than reading a bunch of dialog.

Never really got why so many F3 player were freaked out by the Dunwich Building. Perhaps because I've played a lot of BioShock and thought while it had some nice surprises, it really wasn't that scary.

Hehe you people think Dunwich is scary? By far the most scariest thing in fallout ive ever done is from a mod. Look up Beyond the borders in the fallout new veas nexus. There is a place called noisy hill asylum, taht place is not nice :cryvaultboy: .

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

I got a lot of hours out of the World of Pain mod, not exactly creepy scary but very hard and very violent.
