Is there any way for Bethesda to do a patch that could inclu

I would love to be able to Mod Fallout New Vegas my self but can't because I'm on the PS3. I have seen a lot of the Mods that were done for Fallout 3 and being done for New Vegas and I just wish there was a way that some of these Mods could be patched into the PS3 and even the X-box 360. Maybe have a patch or 2 where you could pick which Mods you would like to install. I love New Vegas but after 1 playthrough, I'm starting to get bored and just seeing what you guys are doing on the PC, I know I could be getting so much more out of these game. Do you guys know how hard it would be for Bethesda to do anything like a patch or are they too busy working on DLC?

Considering the current state of the PS3, you could potentially package mods and install them onto there using the package installer. Of course, you'd need a tool for load-order management, and some mods might not work well on the PS3 considering its limitations, but it's kinda feasible. Likely easier (and less "grey", considering how package files can be installed with a small modification to the firmware) than on the 360, anyway.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony are big supporters of fan-created content like this. They are started to warm up to this and there are some games with level editors but there is a big difference between playing individual levels and adding content to an existing world. In FO3 and FONV a mod is added in addition to all of the pre-existing content, and with larger mods this can increase the memory requirements since the game now needs to worry about having additional content to juggle.

It's not just new locations or new NPCs either, scripts can result in changes across the entire game - and none of this is tested. It's very easily to accidentally break things with the editor, and if someone is feeling malicious it's fairly easy to make a mod which will cause irreparable damage a game even if the mod is removed later. Again, this isn't a problem with a level editor.

Hopefully in the future Microsoft and Sony will come to embrace more advanced modding but I don't think we'll see this with the current generation consoles.
