is there anyone like me?

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 11:28 pm

i was just wondering if anyone completely over-encumbers their person (which the fast travel while encumbered perk is the best of all time! thank you beth and todd!), acquiring every piece of junk they find?

as of right now, if i take all in my workshop I'll have over 30,000lbs in my inventory. i can build hundreds of everything and when somethin dips into the double digits, i go "collecting" again. there's been times were I've collected 12,000lbs while on a run.

I've played both elder scrolls and fallout this way since oblivion. i don't know why, i just love bein able to gather up the things nobody wants.

I'm lovin fo4 though, i finally get to do somethin with it besides sell it or decorate my floor with it. because we all know that there's no sense tryin to put it on the shelfs!

Oh but you can put it on the shelves now!!! That's the beauty of the latest patch! I decorate the heck out of my shelves, tables, counter tops etc. now! Nothing falls through the floor anymore!! :)

And yes, yes, I am always over-encumbered and I have taken more drugs in this game than any other one combined, just to raise my strength to gather even more junk! LOL Plus, I'm dragging a companion around, so I have a pack mule hehe, well they are also fun to have around, but either way, yes, I'm a major pack rat! :)

I usually just pick up weapons, aids, legendaries and tagged scrap. I may get up to 1000 lbs on a run. Strong back maxed out is awesome! No need for chems or annoying companions.

Every time I run out of material I will do one of those settlement missions (kidnapping, ghouls, super mutants or whatever). I pick up everything and fast travel back to dump everything. I don't know how I managed before maxing out that perk.

I wish there was a factory for mops, pencils, or anything to do with wood. Buying shipments can be a chore.

While Im out ill fill my inventory to the max with the lone wanderer perk and one +25 perk in str, dump whatever I can in dogmeat's inventory, and then only grab less heavy items and head back when im 99% ish full.

Love being able to grab tons of junk to bring back for settlement and weapon upgrades.

I have not picked to those perks yet.

I basically go around scavenging armor, weapons and certain junk. I sell the armor and weapons I have no plans for using / distributing and I scrap the junk. I use caps that I earn to buy shipments of concrete and wood and basically carry them around with me since they are weightless. I will probably buy some shipments of steel as well. That way if I clear a settlement I can build immediately without the need to setup a supply line.

Haha, you're not alone. I'm a big hoarder myself. All that junk....give it to meeeeeeee, to the garbage junkie, I need it for materials. I still dunno why they call it junk since it is as valuable as weapons or armor.

First time I played Fallout it seemed I was playing Junk Transport Simulator 2015. So being annoyed at all those trips back and forth between the wasteland and my settlement I went for 20.000 carryweight via console. Yeah I saw Strongback perk but I had 1 Strength and no need to invest more in it since I was playing stealth sniper. Then, at about level 10 I upped my carryweight to 50.000, cause I had only 3 charisma, no Local Leader and was a pain to transport materials from one settlement to another. I preferred to have them all on me. On my second char I decided to get those 2 perks and avoid that cheat.

Now, after some hundred hours playing the game, hoarding has become boring. I rely on my scavenging stations to do the material gathering for me. I only gather loot from corpses and that's it.

I read there was even a mod that loots automatically all in an area around you, but it seemed it had some nasty bugs, I'll wait till they are sorted out.

I'm the opposite, I barely pick up anything. I'm even leaving legendaries behind if they're not something I think I'll use, which means most legendaries. I suppose I could take and sell them, but I have over 30K caps that I'm not spending either, so...

The only things I always pick up are ammo, stims and chems... I am now carrying 283 stimpacks.

Gotcha beat! I'm up to 2,480 something stimpacks! (I'm level 75 now). I use them so rarely that I have no idea why I keep picking them up. My Melinda just prefers a nice nap.

I've got almost 500 stimpaks, lvl 60. i was eating alot of cooked meat but then i realized it was valuable and heavy, (i know right, go figure) so now i just rely on the stimpaks and nap times.

i do like to run around under weight sometimes but with all the guns i got I'm like 40lbs away from max so i can't scavenge at that point. I've gotten pretty efficient at fighting while encumbered. I've got alot invested in my action point refresh too, plus i perk up my pa with the ap speed too.

Why so many guns? I've run with Ole Reliable and my Gauss Rifle for about 45 levels now and haven't had any need for anything else.

Geez, that's a lot of stims... I sold some of mine, gave some to companions, and this SS is only level 44 or so, so I may get there yet. :P

I am at level 173.. and I have about 2800 stimpaks. I don`t even bother picking them up anymore tbh..

I would have considered overloading myself with items.. but my FO4 is much more enjoyable when i don`t use fast travel.

and I actually like Sprinting.. and hate AP draining power core when I use power armor.

I've been known to empty out a large building from time to time. I don't use the strong back perk though, except for maybe the first one or two ranks. Once I get outside I just call in a virtibird and have them fly me to wherever I'm stashing the stuff. Must drive the pilots nuts when I start loading my 2000 pounds of "luggage" into the thing. :D

Haha... all you guys with a thousand Stimpaks and tons and tons of scrap and caps - you're not into Power Armor, are you...?

Because I'm Level 58 and I have just ~1200 caps or something, and always low on junk (aluminum, rubber, fibreglass, adhesive, ceramic).

But I have a dozen awesome PA units!

Including two (now almost three) classic T-51 machines in the gorgeous Railroad flat black paint scheme. These put a Stealth-Boy cloak on you when you simply crouch!

Do yourselves a favour, guys, go down and see the Atom Cats and make friends. They're great people.

Buy up some of their rare and unique T-51 and X-01 parts, and she also sells the more common T-45 and T-60 too.

I'm having a ton of fun with it! Maybe you should... check it out?

I know I'm not in to power armor. No need for it. Of course, I haven't really had any need for it in any Fallout Game.

I used to enjoy Stealth power armor until I realized that crouching alone was draining my AP & Fusion core :sadvaultboy:

Power armor sure is fun though. I just hope they moved faster ! That`s why I cannot over encumber myslef.. because I need to be able to sprint most of times.

By the way, Caps are really easy to collect as you keep playing the game..

I have massive 400000 caps collected... from settlement shops, Deathclaw steak, Radscorpion steak.. and selling all the goods from enemies around settlements.

Also certain repeatable quests & loots can easily make you rich...

I wish I had this much caps in NV.. in FO4 they are mostly useless.

I have a fully modded (with Jet packs) X-01 MK VI PA on my first character, as well as a few others. I think I only used my Jet pack PA once, just to see the effect lol. I did actually use the PA in my first play-through quite frequently, though, before I added the jet packs. That character is on ice right now though, until the DLCs come out. She's lvl 85.

On my other character, who is around lvl 54 right now, she has a fully modded set of T 60d and also the X-01 suit, but I've only used PA once and that was during the Glowing Sea quest. I rather run around with my free fall legs and my outfit modified with ballistic weave. Sneaking in power armor is just weird. :)

I used stimpacks as currency on my first character and I usually have an average of 25-30K caps on me. Caps are so easy to come by at the later levels.

If you want to build things, you need resources. You can buy or collect. Usual I can have above 1000 units I've collected during questing. I don't bother to travel to settlements after each quests. I do quests at night, do other stuffs and day and report back to quest giver at night, most xp available (perks and bonus).

Cheers,

Nope.

I only scavenge for the specific weapon upgrade I'm modding.

Other than that, no scavenge for me.
