Every so often I get attacked by an assassin or group of thugs and I always find notes on them about me having a hit put on me, I don't even know what I did. It is pretty annoying though, is there anyway I can take care of this?

Check what they have on them. There should be a letter called "Contract" or something like that. It will tell you who ordered the contract and why.

Join the Brotherhood for assassins, and don't steal for thugs.

iit depends on who u pissed i did the quest where u break into the battleborn's in whiterun the old lady put a hit on me but when i go up to her in town shes nice to me i think it suppose to explain random encounters thats all unless your wanted by a town then u have to deal with them

I have gotten a couple of groups of Thugs after me in my game, but the thing is: I have not stolen a damn thing. My crime status shows 0 items stolen. So why the hell are they coming after me with a letter from Bor saying I am a thief? :confused:

Sometimes the game is a little odd about these things.

I rented an inn room, closed the door, and ate some fruit from the fruitbowl provided. Lovely touch to a rented room in an inn I thought.

Evil minded child of the innkeeper must have noticed I ate some fruit and ordered a hit on me... what sort of world do we live in where children can order hits because you ate some fruit, provided in the bowl, in the room, you paid money to rent from their father.

Tell you what, it makes me think twice about using the tea and coffee provided in hotel rooms from now on... I might have the mob on my back.

Lucky you, I never did anything but chop wood my first few hours and still got an assassin...

Yeah, I don't think I did anything wrong, really haven't stolen much and if I do I'm pretty careful, but I have been planning on joining the Dark Brotherhood anyway.
