is there anything that would make you not play Skyrim?

I'd play it even if it was in 8-bit graphics.

Removal of core RPG elements and TES staples.

Only one I can think of atm. that would make me not buy Skyrim is the removal of customisable spell effects, replaced by pre made levelled spells.

edit: I would also not buy Skyrim if they made it so I couldnt play it by including any online requirement to play.

I could make up a list of stuff I wouldn't like.
But I'd still play it, no matter what.

Linear gameplay (not open ended)
Cut out most rpg elements (they're getting there from what I hear)
FO style armor with about zero customization
No modding.

Basically if they took out everything that makes a TES game a TES game. So im pretty sold on it :D

If they stream line it too much and take away all the tiny details I love. The things you could play the game a hundred times and miss kinda stuff.

Already did the paid beta for New Vegas. Expect the same level of quality for Skyrim on it's release. So for my sanity I'll allow it to stew for a full quarter to allow time for the critical bug fixing patches to be pushed out. This way there is a better chance I'll have a working game to play when bought and not a multi-gigabyte virus sitting on my SSDs awaiting fixes for over a month.

If the people who only play FIFA and Call Of Duty buy it and don't complain about how boring it is.

It gives me a great sense of superiority when I hear them complain that fantastic RPGs are "borin lol".

If they turned it into an action/adventure game like Fable 3...

god... that game was awesome when it was an RPG...

Fast travel comes very close but my love for TES just manages to overwrite my hatred for fast travel. And no it′s not as simple as just ignoring it because when you ignore it you are no longer playing a game designed around how you play, the games will always be designed with fast travel in mind from now on, designed so that when you play without it you notice how unrealistic the landscape is compared to how it was in Morrowind, designed so that when you play without it you will encounter a very chaotic distribution of creatures, designed without any other means of fast travel, designed for less immersion & less diversity in landscape.

If it lost the RPG aspects and became just a combat sim or turned into an MMO.

Only if it was cancelled because someone made another ET game and crashed the gaming industry again.

Vampires that glitter in the sun... this will keep me away from the elderscrolls for the rest of my life.

Maybe when gameplay footage comes out it looks like complete junk then I will hold off on pre-ordering this and wait for reviews. Otherwise day 1 buy for me.

Plenty, real life commitments for example. I will hopefully be able to start playing shortly after release, but if college gets to busy I simply can't put Skyrim first. Hopefully though I'll be able to start playing as soon as possible, the only advantage to starting later is that more mods will have time to come out I guess, though the sooner I start working on my own mods the sooner I can get them out, I came up with so much stuff while modding Fallout that would be perfect for a TES game, but obviously wouldn't fit in Fallout.

Incredibly bland and boring looking. Oblivion was SO bad I never did finish, other than the occasional slightly generic monster it was like walking through my backyard. Hell I can go for a walk and see bears or other wild creatures if I want to. God, it was so generic. It was painful, every time I look around the world I just can't go on. So... boring. -_- If this game is equally as uninspired in that department I'm not going to waste my time. There's plenty of games coming out this year I want, I know right now I can only get a few of them. Skyrim is really going to have to sell itself well here. Oblivion was so bad... god. I was prepared to give up table top gaming for a week or two for that game, good thing I didn't. My imagination far surpasses it.

There is nothing that would ever make me not play Skyrim. Bethesda'll do such a good job, they won't screw up.

Sudden acquisition of a social life.

Seems pretty unlikely at the moment. (Recently divorced and loving the solitude :goodjob: )
