is there anything that would make you not play Skyrim?

Nothing will make me not play it. I`m taking a week off when it`s released..

Hopefully will have played The Witcher 2 and Dragon Age 2 to death by then!

There's already something keeping me from playing Skyrim. This wretched Frankenstein of a computer! :brokencomputer:

I need a job. Anybody need someone to collect ash salts?

Buy a cheap Xbox or PS3 if you can't afford a good gaming computer by 11-11-11. It might not be as good, but it's a hell of a lot better than not playing the game at all. :P

I think the only thing besides pre-Skyrim's release death that would make me not play Skyrim is if a bunch of aliens came down to Earth, kidnapped me, and implanted me with a remote detonated explosive that was big enough to blow up the entire planet that the aliens informed me they would detonate if I ever played Skyrim. Of course, if they said they'd only detonate it after, say several hundred hours of play, I'd have to think about it. Sorry, Earth!

... I can only think of one thing, and if it happens then I'll still play the game, I'll just be annoyed.

Some of you might have purchased Fallout: New Vegas for the PC version. If so, you'll be aware that Fallout: New Vegas is run on the Steam cloud service. As convenient as it is that I can play New Vegas on any computer, the service REALLY screwed with the game in the first few weeks, causing a serious amount of glitches that already added to the usual glitches that come along with a Bethesda game - and those on top of the usual Obsidian glitches.

So I'm REALLY hoping that Skyrim will not be run on the steam client this time around.

Turning it in to action/adventure, that's for sure, or a fighting game with free roaming world. And the setting - Oblivion was bland and boring, the SI was the only thing that kept me interested in it - SI was simply awesom in my book. If Skyrim is as boring realistic as Oblivion was I'll pass.

The apocalypse, or if it is not released. Pretty much the same thing.

Initially - urgent exams.
Eventually - possibly modding, unless urgent exams.

Endless epic combat against mobs scaled to my level.
Endless repetition of interior layout/design.
Total lack of fear or apprehension or wonder when entering a cave or ruin.
Having to level my char in accordance with some arms race.
Endlessly happy and smiling NPCs.
Pop-up messages telling me exactly what I should do.
The feeling that most of the development budget has been spent making a combat simulator with token rp features added as lip service.

And I will laugh myself silly if Oblivion towers have been replaced by dragon towers and dragon combat involves nothing more than fighting minions, destroying the dragons heart and collecting the words.

There are several other things that may combine to reduce the game to nothing more than a farce in my eyes. Time will tell.

The finishing moves got me worried that Skyrim might be a little more like a brawler, brawlers are fun (especially Darksiders, i would recommended it to anyone), but TES is supposed to be an RPG, finishing moves are good, but no more brawling features, except the melee combat of course, i do NOT want Beth to do with TES what Lionhead did to Fable.

The only thing that would maybe keep me from playing the game is if they would make it a requirement to join The Dark Brotherhood to be able to complete the main quest. I would still probably play the game, but I would have no desire to complete the main quest then. I doubt seriously they would do it, but....

I love TES, unreasonably. For that very reason, I don't think I'll be buying Skyrim right away...
1. I'm studying something that I find very difficult. I don't want to trash my life for this thing
2. I'd be really saaad if Skyrim was a big disappointment
Spoiler
like Oblivion

Basically, I'll probably wait for patches, downloadable content, expansions and mods to come out before buying it.
I'll also have to buy a new computer to run it, and as I am not exactly swimming in money, waiting about a year or so will probably mean that a computer that can actually run Skyrim will be much more affordable.

But, yeah. I don't think there's any doubt that I will buy it eventually.

Spoiler
Cell shading might do it

Yes there are a few things that I would hate if they dont have but not playing the game is too extreme, I think if it wasnt a RPG but that isnt going to be a problem, and if Dragons are mounts in the game that would be pretty stupid, I dont think they are going to be in as a mount because arent the dragons in Skyrim kind of like those in Eragon where unless they are captured they are really sophisticated animals that are just like and other Humanoid?

I can't imagine anything standing in my way of playing....but after my experience with Steam and FONV, I'd really have to think twice if Steam was mandatory. Outside of that, I'm in.

Oh, I'm gonna play the game no matter what. How well of a job they did on it will be the determining factor between torrenting and buying.

I am much more picky about games than I used to be. It takes a very good game for me to bother. I followed Crysis for years on forums/articles but decided against playing it when it actually was released, and most things I'm interested in have been canceled anyway.

At this point with what I've seen/read, I would say it is unlikely I will play Skyrim.

Nothing can make me not play Skyrim. Its TESV for [censored]s sake!

I may not love it. Hell, I may hate it, but I will still play it, just to experience it.

Skyrim: Black Ops.

That, well, I would play that to be honest.

Seriously though, I would not play it if they "compromised" with casual gamers (Cassys, if you like to condescend them).

I'd stop playing if I start fighting a dragon and can't beat it because my character's level is too low.
