is there anything that would make you not play Skyrim?

I'd play it even if it was in 8-bit graphics.

If they decide to make it a cell-shaded game and suddenly decide to make an MMORPG

The only thing stopping me from playing is my Xbox. If it gets the red rings, or red light rather (X360s), then I won't be able to play. But then again, if that happens I'll probably just go buy a new one.

It'd have to be something pretty extreme for me to not play it, like a dragon with a bazooka...actually I'd still play the game if that was in it.

But what about you?

What could keep me away from Skyrim? The end of the World (maybe).

If combat svcks (we'll know soon)
If AI still svcks
If it's as happy clappy as Oblivion
If the barmaid from the GI screenshot won't be in
If the new skills and attributes solution svcks
If the perks are odd
If the level scaling has been done wrong
If it has plasma rifles
If its gameplay is totally based around fast travel like Oblivion's at times
If they announced there's going to be worthless DLC rather than expansions.
If it has draconic DRM
If it's going to cost more than a comparable game

Out of ideas.

Given my dislike of Oblivion and what the dev team did to it, I would say YES there are plenty of things to keep me from playing it.

However, I'm a HUGE TES fan and have been playing the series since Daggerfall and have been following the games on the message board since Morrowind was introduced. Given that, NO there is nothing that would keep me from buying it and playing it at least once.

There might be things that would keep me from buying it for the PC, things that would keep me from playing it multiple times, things that would keep me from playing it for months on end like I did with Morrowind.

I will be buying and playing Skyrim at least once, starting on the day it comes out. Not even close to thinking otherwise.

Me and 42 of my buddies "say" (granted some of us might be "lying") we wont' buy it if it requires Steam like FONV did. Check my sig for the links to the survey and the responses. Apart from that, I can think of nothing that would stop me from buying and playing it!

There were also two previous polls on here that maxed out in length which indicated similar patterns.

GamesForWindowsLive.
My Financial Status in Novemeber.
Curiosity about how they'll price the Expansional content, whether to wait for the "Complete"/"Game of the Year" bundle at the end of the tunnel.

Though, I suppose it is more a case of when, rather than "not". Hmm.

being able to not adjust brightness.....I'm a morrowind vet and having only 2 constant effect rings of night eye in morrowind wasn't always the funnest experience
I know people who were either to lazy to put forth the effort to escape sewers or didn't know there was brightness setting so they never even escaped the sewers.
that makes me not only mad they didnt give oblivion the effort but also sad they never got to share the joy in that game that most of us did.

If they don't add werewolves this time I will be pissed. Evrything else can be solved with mods.

If I need a DLC to play on when I finish the main quest, then I will not buy Skyrim.

Only things that Bethesda would never do. I could imagine Blizzard or Bioware doing them, but not BGS. I feel pretty confident in them.

at least you had a pc version from my understanding mods made oblivion even better with the right ones and in reference to morrowind you playing for months...I played for years heck I'd play one of my 4 copies of goty right now if I could but my original xbox died sadface. I take offense to people who would refuse to play or try to get into the game elder scrolls demand 1 full playthrough before it can be judged my opinion but with such a grand scale game only true players of rpgs can come to call TES games home away from all the crap games out today.

Certain obtrusive DRM methods or Skyrim being an mmorpg would definitely keep me from playing.

Other than that I really can't think of anything else.

If I die, become blind or paralysed. Or if they turn it into a MMORPG, but THAT is not going to happen!

If every horse in the game looks like something off "My Little Pony" and the riding horse music is the theme to my little pony. Everyone in town looks like a telitubby, and the monsters are hello kitty characters.

on second thought, mabye the monsters being hello kitty things wouldnt be so bad, i could brutally kill each one hahaha

Dying, being in jail, or being put into a permanent coma, although I don't see any these happening soon. But they're the only three worries I have between now and then.

I would not buy it if it requires Steam or any program that I have to start up before actually playing and that forces me to be online. GFW is fine because it starts up simultaneously and I can have an offline account. I would prefer a version with a copy protection like Battlefield Bad Company 2's, though.
This does not mean I wouldnt get to play the game, though ;) .
