If there are glitches, will you exploit them?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:22 am

It depends on the nature of the glitch, but as a general rule, I avoid exploiting glitches to my advantage in games, I don't want to make the game too easy, after all. Not that I have any objections to using legitimate gameplay mechanics that can give me an advantage, such as using better equipment, but glitches and bugs are not part of the legitimate gameplay, and I don't want to take advantage of them, though I might make an exception when messing around if it's not something that makes the game too easy but is instead just fun,

When I discovered the console commands I used them to raise all my skills. Which resulted in my character running twice as fast as any horse, needless to say: it kinda broke the game. This time I'm on Ps3 so, no I i'll do it 100% legit.

The console is in no way a glitch, though, nor is exploting glitches necessarily something that can't be done on consoles. Glitches are unintentional flaws in the game's programming where things don't work how they're supposed to, in other words, they're like bugs, though usually when I think of a bug, it makes me think of something more serious than a glitch, it just so happens that sometimes, these errors can be used to the players' advantage.

No. Any shameless cheats advantages my characters have are a result of modding and roleplaying, not glitches.

I'll do what everyone else does...
1. First playthrough will be a regular playthrough for the experience..
2. Then a couple months down the road or usually sooner make a character that u usually dont play as (orc argonian dunmer ect) and use any exploits u find on cheatcodesites to get them to level quicker for roleplaying purposes..then boom i have my (black orc general) or (argonian dragon knight level 75)
The first playthrough is always the most fun but its just too good to pass up quick level up exploits to make that perfect roleplaying character in like 5 mins...plus it lets u see all the perks throughout the game

My most fondest memory was when i made a high elf mage who was on the council of mages but was also secretly a vampire too..i was level 35 and used the duplicate items and dorian money glitch to buy all the houses in the game...i then dublicated custom items around my houses and in rooms to give it a unique touch according to my character...my favorite being the anvil house with the necromancer room..which i turned into my "chamber" and covered with bones.", skulls, sigil stones and jewelry..exploits can be fun when there being used as "immersion" or "background story" enhancers...

Exploiting glitches is really cheap... If I wanted to make the game easier, I'd use cheats anyways.

If I think it furthers my goal of role playing I just might, even though I'm in doubt I would need to. I don't maintain some puritanic idealism of playing video games, except that everything named "Fargoth" must die a horrible, painful death.

It all depends on what the glitch is. So far from what I can rememeber I didn't use a glitch. Not even in New Vegas which I forget, but you can get to level 30 in no time.

I did glitches once a long time ago in a game and it ruined the fun, so I don't do it no more.

depends what the glitch is, but i probably wouldnt. i wouldnt abuse a bug, but i could abuse game weaknesses, if that counts as glitches

the pc players can always use the dev commands for that yes, but for console players the exploits/glitches are our own version of that since we don't have that luxury.

I loved making it rain watermelons and such in Oblivion before they patched the arrow thing. Even then the scroll dupe I'd have fun making mountains of items rain out.

I have no problem with glitches, though if I do something obnoxious like fill a temple with watermelons I wouldn't save over my main save.

No, that usually takes the fun out of the game for me.

Nope.

Wasn't even aware of the main Oblivion "glitches" until I saw people complaining about them here. Don't know how to item duplicate, didn't realize you could trick the speech minigame by have your sword out, didn't realize you could keep bribing above the "maximum" disposition, don't bother with a 100% chameleon suit (it's boring).......

But, then, I don't turn on God Mode either (except, of course, in the rare case where a mod I'm testing has insanely overpowered mobs guarding, say, a pretty shirt to wear.)

well, there will be glitches. Probably a lot of them. But, no, I personally won't exploit them, in fact I'll do everything I can to avoid them.

I never used the duplicate glitch but I'm wondering if using a repair hammer on a Bound Sword and then keeping it forever with no weight is a glitch? How about that one? As far as Skyrim goes, if it gives me a negative with a glitch, I'm likely to balance things out by using a glitch somewhere ... just to keep balance. :)
