Is there a benefit for pre-order?

Here is a better question? Is there a reason NOT to preorder? If you plan on getting Skyrim no matter what, why not preorder. Especially if you are worried there will be a limited number of Collector's Edition, which I plan on getting, and I expect that a lot of the people considering preorder would also be interested in.

There is absolutely no reason you cannot take the game back after its been shipped as long as you haven't opened it yet... but seriously, who here is not going to open their game right away? I doubt there are many people here that wont be there day one buying the game, which is the same result as preordering except you may have to deal with shortages.

I'm not going to pre-order. Early bus to local town the day of release. In at opening time, home in less than 20 minutes, let the awesome begin. I myself don't live in a too busy area so unless you are really worried that all the games retail shops in the area are going to instantly sell out I would say its... your choice. I wouldnt myself though.

For pre-ordering DA 2 before January you got a free upgrade to the Collectors Edition, or Signature Edition, one or the other. I'd like to see something like that for Skyrim.

We're talking about Skyrim here... :stare:

OK. then how about bugginess?
I dont understand what people see against pre-ordering the game if you know you're going to buy it. It secures you a copy day one, it only costs 5 bucks to pre-order, which is part of the price of the game. And you might get a nifty gift or something.

Why pay full price for a game before patches come out to fix what could possibly be game ending bugs? Guess I'm just silly, but I'd like a game to be as near as perfect before buying it.

Also, why pay full price instead of waiting for prices to drop?

No pre ordering is usally a bad idea because if the game ends up svcking they already have your money. I would never advise anyone to ever preorder a product (not just games anything).

totally agree! Last time I pre-ordered a Cd from a band, I was majorly disappointed... buuuut.... Skyrim is going to be awesome... So I am stuck... meh..

If you buy games on day one it makes sense to pre-order. If you hear really bad reviews you can always move your money to another game instead of buying.
