Is there a benefit for pre-order?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:52 pm

I find that the only reason i pre-order a game is if it comes with something. Anything would be good. A shirt, some dumb figurine, something. ( I don't have to worry about stock in my town, so pre-order should come with something nice for us loyal fans.)

No pre ordering is usally a bad idea because if the game ends up svcking they already have your money. I would never advise anyone to ever preorder a product (not just games anything).

Here is a better question? Is there a reason NOT to preorder? If you plan on getting Skyrim no matter what, why not preorder. Especially if you are worried there will be a limited number of Collector's Edition, which I plan on getting, and I expect that a lot of the people considering preorder would also be interested in.

There is absolutely no reason you cannot take the game back after its been shipped as long as you haven't opened it yet... but seriously, who here is not going to open their game right away? I doubt there are many people here that wont be there day one buying the game, which is the same result as preordering except you may have to deal with shortages.

I have pre-ordered many games and never once did I regret it, you just need to be a smart shopper. And this is Skyrim we're talking about here. pre-ordering is a good way to confirm that you will get a collectors edition(if that's what you want) and to ensure you get the game on the day. If you got the coupon from Aussie GI then you get a free poster when you pre-order! HAPPY DAYS :celebration:

Yea, no worry for stock. Noone buys games here, so...yea. No reason to pre-order if there isn't an item to go with.

I work at wal-mart and we've already been told what the collectors edition includes. It includes a full set of dovahkiin's armor (sword and shield included), a dragon skull, and a copy of Todd's most favorite nvdey mag for the low low price of $579.45

ah, see, the GameStop one includes Elven armor instead of dovahkiin armor. but other wise everything else is the same.

I couldn't agree more. I almost never pre-order anything. Tend to try it - then buy it, if me likes ;)

I dont understand what people see against pre-ordering the game if you know you're going to buy it. It secures you a copy day one, it only costs 5 bucks to pre-order, which is part of the price of the game. And you might get a nifty gift or something.

Right. There's not much that I'm anticipating being good no matter what. I generally like to read the reviews before I sink money into it. And even then, I'll usually wait for a price drop. $60 is s tough pill to swallow. I just pre-ordered Skyrim today, though. I think the only other game I've ever pre-ordered was Metal Gear Solid. I may have pre-ordered Ace Combat 4 for Dreamcast because I pre-ordered a Dreamcast, and it would be silly not to have a game for it on launch day. But I honestly can't remember which game it was I pre-ordered with that system, as I bought a couple of games when I picked it up, too. That may have been the beginning of the end for me, as far as consoles are concerned. I never forgave Sony for killing that system. Now, only time can kill my PC!

WHAT!? no making of DVD eff that!

seriously though I never pre-order (or shop) at gamestop, but Amazon has one of the best rackets going. It's almost always pre-order a game get a $20 credit on next game...which can be another pre-order where you get another credit...basically just keep getting new games for $40.

That said....I just paid for next quarters books, paid phone bill, and rent, and I need to go grocery shopping....so Im not in the mood to spend money even on a pre-order :(

Normally I pre order anything I would order anyway.. damn tongue twisters.
In the case of Skyrim I will be ordering it before its release, so I'll order it via pre order.
If said order comes with an exclusive pre order bonus then it's not anymore an incetive to pre order the order I ordered already.

As the last lot of Bet games came with a pre order content, and alot of other games do so as well already.
I'd hazard that ordering Skyrim via pre order will be no different, and you'll get some pixel trinket code to grease the already greased wheels.

I would really like to see a pre order bonus that exempts the player from paying for bread for the entire time you play. In other words, you never have to pay for the bread you buy.

Only argument against reordering is that sometimes preorders came after release, yes depending on shop and country.
The other reason is if reviews stating that the game svcks ducks but is not a issue for skyrim

For another thing since we (this is intended for PC players) will be buying it from Steam there is not a reason and you can buy it and download it the second it comes out or whenever you want.

Fishy Sticks?

But I hope there is some kind of reward, I never pre-order, but I always get the benefit (I did with Fall Out: New Vegas, Halo: Reach, and Splintercell: Conviction). I don't know why, but I don't disagree with the people that give me the pre-order bonus.

I would want either a stupid action figure or in-game armor/weapons. But armor and weapons would prove to be obsolete after a few level ups. Maybe a spell?

I have never seen a "bonus" that was worth the pain and frustration of pre-ordering a product. Its usually some pointless piece of equipment that is obsolete after the first hour of play or even WORSE is a piece of equipment that is near god-like in qualities that it ends up completely ruining your game experience if you don't quickly discard it, I had too many problems with getting a product that I had pre-ordered AFTER where I could have just picked it up earlier when I found it somewhere else first.
