No one seems interested in it, it's very cheap, obviously settlement themed which a lot of people aren't in too, or will it surprise us and be great?

No, you can stop worrying about Wasteland Workshop. Cheap DLC doesn't have to mean bad DLC.
Actually it is if it's not a expansion pack that is sold that adds a new landmass or extends the vanilla video game world map just a little bit. On top of adding A LOT of new content like at least 10 new sets of armor or 10+ new sets of armor, 10 new weapons or 10+ new weapons, at least 10 hours of new quests or 10+ hours of new quests, etc.
I'm VERY into settlement stuff because right now settlements are useless. I realized this after building a couple settlements and it's like as soon as I finish this glorious base with fortifications and stuff, I stand back and look at everything and go. Well now what, I guess I'll spam fast travel until something happens! I really want to be able to hang out at my settlement and have things happening, I want to see more variety in world encounters/settlement events. Right now settlements are just aesthetics essentially and a place to craft and dump junk, I'd like to have a settlement that actually feels like it's alive and busy and has more interaction with the environment.
TL:DR?
This DLC should keep me interested in my settlements and make them a focal point in gameplay as opposed to just a minor mechanic that's not even fully fleshed out. I want to be able to stay in my settlement and not be bored. Have more attacks, have special natural disaster events or something, settlers getting diseases from animal attacks like that mole rat virus or something you know?
Wasteland Workshop be like:
- One chunk of asset called "The Arena"
- Pretend something is going on there
lol
I am just wondering how I can build anything else with the low build cap on console.
What is the point giving me more assets when I cannot fit anything in? I would have to have arena/cage fighting at Sanctuary.
No - the already-revealed features of WW are already significantly more impressive than what Horse Armor provided (which was purely a way to change your horse's model and a few new horse models).
I think the sooner they figure out console mods, the sooner they can let modders take over the aesthetics of settlement building. I'd prefer Bethesda to fix the various bugs tied to settlements and try to improve the settlers' AI before adding any more bells and whistles like arenas. But having said that, it's always nice to get some new toys to play with.
Sorry but only expecting massive expansions and not wanting smaller dlc is not something we should advocate. We should advocate for a balance of two. I don't get the fascination with the expansions that adds a new location like say "Solstheim" with all this added stuff but doesn't influence the main area. It's like Point Lookout all over again where you can repair certain weapons to repair with itself unless you pay for the repair. It's stupid.
Don't get me wrong I like those new areas and expansions but dlc like this that adds stuff to the core area(commonwealth) and it being official content(not mods) makes it more far more special than mods.
I'm fine with the Arena but I kinda wish this DLC was with the Automatron DLC. In a way the arena idea was cut from the base game. I wonder if its possible we can race robots. So many interesting ideas that were in the base game locked behind a pay wall.
They really should do something with East City Downs and the Combat Zone. Some interesting ideas wasted on more raider fights.
Why should we advocate for a balance of the two? I rather have 3 big DLCs that adds huge amount of gameplay than 2 big dlcs and smaller ones that modders can do.
How is adding extra workshop stuff anything special. How is paid DLC more special than a modded DLC? DLC like this doesn't add much to the base game compare to what a mod can do.
I agree with this. I still don't understand why Level 4 Vendors don't show up. Watch a mod fix this before Bethesda.
I have the Season Pass and am force to have this terrible DLC. This DLC feels like its been cut from the base game to resell for us.
Why don't you use content mods? You realize the content mods are what Bethesda is using? The modders even have them more stabilize too.
First off: I already explained why we should advocate for balance because when bethesda adds this content to the base game it's not just mods. It's content you know will always work(baring from freezes and such) and not needing to have multiple patches to be compatible with the next dlc bethesda releases. That's the sad state of mods, they become broken with each patch with each new dlc release. That's not to say I won't use mods but stuff like this is new content to expand the gameplay.
Secondly: I don't know how much you spent on the DLC but if it was $30, you practically paid for Far Harbor and get the next pieces for free. If you paid $50 well you'd pretty much paid for far harbor and any new content that comes out later, you're still get the first two DLC's in essence for free.
The other thing is: bethesda announced they had 0 idea what the DLC's were going to be in september when they announced the season pass and released it early. They never started working on ideas about the DLC until after the base game launched, so no; the wasteland workshop and Automatron were all fresh content that was added likely influenced by mods done in the past or requests by the fans for like(WW example)
I can't honestly believe you'd claim something ridiculous like "it feels like it's been cut from the game to resell" nothing about automatron is like that. It's not horse armor and quite frankly Bethesda's track record for there DLCs also proves they don't do this either. You may not like the lack of story in Automatron but it does add NEW stuff
Automatron is less stable than most mods just saying
How is it less stable than mods? Any issue to me isn't the dlc but rather the game after reaching very high levels not being able to run like a fresh save like every other bethesda title
Well compared to content mods for Skyrim, not really fair to compare it to current F4 mods. Just crashes/freezes and stuff I've never had happen from mods. Except frostfall but that was more about how the game could only use 4gb ram, enb fixed it
I am really having a hard time getting excited about the WW and I'm not sure why. I have always been excited for Bethesda dlc up until F4. I own everything made for Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, New Vegas (apparently the red-headed step child), and the Season Pass for F4. I even *gasp* purchased Horse Armor dlc, although I remember Todd Howard saying that they would never do a "Horse Amor dlc" again, lol.
I have thought about it a lot, and I think it has to do with already owning it so there's no anticipation or excitement for it. Let's face it, "we will get what we get, and we won't throw a fit" with the Season Pass.
Well i'm skipping fallout 4 dlc in april until far harbor only because april is the month of dark souls 3. I want to get my body ready for that game. So i'll download both dlc's in may
Even if there are people who mods ever and the DLC's developed by Bethesda Game Studios adds the gameplay features you want the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop DLC's should be FREE.
Only expansion packs like Far Harbor should be sold and ZeniMax Media Inc., Bethesda Softworks, and Bethesda Game Studios should sell Far Harbor sized expansion packs or equivalent. And release all smaller DLC's that don't even add a new landmass or extend the vanilla video game world map just a little bit for FREE.
You know treat us with REWARDS for PURCHASING their video game and Far Harbor and any other expansion packs that add a new landmass or extend the vanilla video game world map in the future.
