I've been trying to rebuild my collection of mods to play through Oblivion with, but it's been years since I've paid attention to what Oblivion mods were available. The one area in particular I was focusing on was environment improvment mods, and I came across the wonderful http://www.gamesas.com/topic/960829-environment-mod-list/, which helped in selecting several mods to use. However, when looking for texture replacers, I couldn't find any remotely comprehensive guides explaining the differences between all the texture packs/graphical improvements that have popped up in the time since devakm's http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/obliviontextureoverhaul.html was last updated. It looks like there are a lot of cool mods that are available for this, but info on them seems a bit scarce. Searching for existing recent posts on the forums provided plenty of suggestions for texture packs, but not much explanation as to why you would choose one over another, or even what roles they fill and where they would overlap.
Can anyone give me a shove in the right direction? Is there a webpage or thread somewhere I missed? Or are the other texture/normal/LOD options that have come out, like Lush and Gaudy, or Really Textured Normals, just not worth it over the older options like QTP3 and Better Tiling LOD? If there actually are a few different really good options to choose from now, and no source which explains the differences, would someone mind taking the time to provide a bit of information on this for mod-scene noobs like me?
