There is a difference between Mania and Dimentia?

Post » Wed Oct 28, 2009 9:46 am

It's been a long while since I was in Shivering Isles. I only went to Dimentia. I have been in Mania then walked out and went to Dimentia. I see no difference. Mind you I was in Mania for a few seconds so I can't tell. Is there a difference between them? If there is what is it?

I thought they were both the same. So if I go to Dimentia and then say a few days later I go to Mania, what will I see difference if I go to the same place?

Yes, the style of the landscape is completely different. If you just went through the Mania gate, or briefly crossed over, you might not have noticed.

the plants are different, some creatures are different colours. Heretics are in mania and zealots in dementia

There are also several ingredients you can only get in Mania, and viceversa.

There are also a few towns like Split and New Sheoth on the border. The Mania residents will be nutty eccentrics. The Dementia residents will be depressed suicidal paranoids.

It seems to me that what the OP is asking is will the Shivering Isles change if you enter through the Dementia Door vs the Mania Door.

The answer to that is no. The door you pass through in Passwall does not change the landscape beyond that door. You just enter in a slightly different place.

and the spell you get is different. Mania gives frenzy upon entering and Dementia demoralize (you can only get 1)

thanks guys for answering my question. So next time I play Oblivion, then I should be checking out both sides then, since it will be a little different then. Thanks
