there doesn't appear to be many Armour slots.

looking at stuff, i have the feeling this game will either run on fallout's body and helmet. or the same pitiful amount oblivion had. absolutely no pauldrons :sadvaultboy:
never mind those skirts and ponchos (we might be able to get shirts under armour, because i haven't seen any evidence against that yet)

evidence (from screenshots)

1: the body pieces change in size, but the pauldrons goes OVER the body piece.

2: in the game informer mag there are pictures of two different charecters with the exact same pauldron mounted on the body piece)

3: we havent seen anyone with conflicting armour- its either all elven or all leather. we havent seen anyone with a glass naginata, dwemer helmet, orcish pauldrons, daedric greaves, imperial steel skirt, common shirt, netch boots, adamantire right glove and bonemould left, clan volkharim poncho thing and an ebony body piece. along with lots of bling? you would think bethesda would be eager to show of right?

edit- look at the gi pictures. THE GI PICTURES. i do have evidence ok?

secondly- why must armours be sixified? the thing that made tes different from all of the other generic fantasy games was that it had a sense of semi realism. everything weird in it was explained by magic. i dont see why unmagical armour turns from a (usualy) realistic male shape too OMG BIG BEWBZ AND DRESS AND WAIST and every piece of the armour changing for some 14 year old boy. i dont mind a slight change in shape- but when non magical armour completely changes shape into something skimpy it realy makes me lower my disposition towards bethesda. i also dont see why men cant wear dresses. (when it makes sense i am fine, the golden saints and dark seducers worked perfectly well skimpy. especialy since A: it didnt change randomly in the vanila game because you couldent pick it up, and B
its sheogoraths realm, they are daedra, its not meant to make sense

How is boots greaves cuirass gloves helmet pitiful. If we add one more slot how does that make such a difference? Or are people still demanding the ability to wear odd boots again.

I like the idea of mixing it up when it comes too the armor im wearing. Thats one of the major things that upset me about fallout 3. I dont want to wear the same armor combo as the theif or the town guard.

The, maybe you should wait till knowing actual facts. Not just speculation.

About the armor "magically changed"... It has always changed. I suposse that a Bosmer wouldn't be able to wear an armor from a Nord. Where is the different if they do the same between males and females?

It was confirmed in a tweet by one of the devs that armor will not be Fallout-style.

If someone could find the tweet, that would be great.

And I suppose the fact that we've been shown only matching sets has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that 1) BGS think that that looks classiest and so gives the best impression of the game or 2) they haven't ironed out clipping issues with mixing and matching yet.

No I suppose we've been shown every single facet of the game already haven't we?

Edit: pretty sure that http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/24587565612933120 is the tweet confirming multiple armour slots, but the guy he's tweeting to has deleted his tweet to Pete.

Yeah only gunna show off set and concept art only ever gunna have set shown on, some1 said this in another thread that because the concept art was full suits it will be like that in game, but if ur a concept artist your gonna draw a whole suit not the half of one and couple bits from some others that's not very helpful to the designers. Ad has been said the tweet confirmed that "what works for one game, doesn't always work for another." or summit like that. So I'd say we are pretty safe non of the bitz I've seen have features that stretch past the normal zones, a very common feature of fallout armour.

Two reasons for less slots : clipping issues, and abuse of the enchanting system. Oblivion was nearly there on the first, but some combinations still had issues, hopefully sorted now, and without greater Sigil stones, the second should be fine with OBs amount of slots. Of course if they limited absorb reflect and chameleon to 85% like the armour then too many enchants would become a non issue.

The solution to the enchanting system is to refine the system, not limit the slots.

^ THIS...

In Oblivion there is some "one piece" armours like robes and that dark brotherhood leather armour.

So... calm down. Skyrim should not be one-slot armour like in fallout.

Do you only mean that armors shift in shape according to gender, or do you also imply there'll be more of those unrealistic fantasy armors where the ladies have no protection at all like in other RPGs? I haven't seen any screens showing this, and I surely hope we never will.

Jack, take it easy on the threads.
There is no proof for any of this. We have seen the concept art of a few armor sets. That is all.

Also, armor gender swapping isn't any weirder than armor magically adjusting size.

its strange we have no information about it so people assume its not in.
Its happening with everything, the odd comment about it one thing but ten treads a day saying "OMG Something something hasn't been show so it not in the game".
I guess people have to pass the ten months somehow.

VERY good point. No one minds killing a big female marauder warlord and equipping her enchanted armour on their male Bosmer. Definitely can't hear any cries of 'immersion breaking' from the cheap seats on this one.

The fact that we haven't seen mixed armor sets doesn't prove anything. After all, many screenshots for Oblivion showed characters wearing full sets of one armor type too, I don't know if this was true for Morrowind because since I wasn't aware of the series until after Morrowind's releaseand that's perfectly logical, because if Bethesda wants to show off how steel armor looks, of course they'll show someone in a full set of steel armor. Especially since mixed armor combinations may not look good, depending on which armors you choose to mix, and obviously Bethesda wants to ensure the screenshots look good. In any case, we've really not seen all that many in-game screenshots depicting different types of armor, so maybe we won't see mixed armor sets until later on. And of course the concept art is going to show full armor sets, because the point of concept art is to provide the modelers a reference to model things on, so concept art for armor is going to show an image of a full suit of armor to show the modelers what the armor should look like. It's not going to show mixed sets of armor because that's not the point of it. Right now, we have no way to know how many armor slots we can expect, thev screenshots and concept art shown so far proves nothing on the sobject.

As for armor changing based on your six, I for one liked that, because I like being able to tell what six my character is, I always downloaded female armor mods for Morrowind because I hated that I couldn't tell what six fully armored characters were by default. I don't care if it's realistic or not, if I want realism even if it comes at the price of making the game less enjoyable, I wouldn't be playing fantasy to begin with.

Though, I don't want female armors to be chainmail bikinis, what I would consider the ideal approach to female armor models would be something like the guard cuirasses in Oblivion, the same level of coverage as the male version, and the same basic design, just with the shape of the body it's fitted to changing. Honestly, I don't see how that's any less realistic to the armor I looted from a Bosmer increasing in size to fit my orc, and don't even suggest Bethesda should "fix" that, if I finally manage to find a full suit of Daedric armor, and find that it's too big to fit my character, I will quit the game immediately, and never touch it again ever, maybe I'd also snap the disk in half for good measure.

I think they should go back to Morrowinds left hand, right hand and left leg, right leg ect

Morrowind had no left leg and right leg slots... what you're looking for is left hand/right hand and left shoulder/right shoulder. Boots and greaves basically behaved the same as Oblivion.

That's essentially the complaint (or at least, where the complaint sprang from). That a male will have bandit armor on and be relatively well covered, but a female will don the same armor and SUDDENLY, CLEAVAGE.
