Is there a funky record player thing? (with the brass thing

Post » Mon Apr 26, 2010 3:23 am

Does vanilla fallout (No DLC's) have one of those record player thingamajigs? With the big brass cone on the top from like the <6-70's ish. As you guys can probably guess I am only 16, so they are WAY out of my time period, I dont even know what they are called. Something-phone I think >.> If any of you know what it is called and if there is one in the game I can use, let me know. I would look for the model myself, but like I said I have no clue what they are called. It would be really awsome if I could have one, so maybe if there isn't one, if someone could make one for me? It doesn't have to move or anything. I asked my mom but she couldn't remember what they were called haha. I guess she was very young when they were around, before the record turntables and speakers came to be.

Gunmaster95

EDIT: I figure there should be one, since its from Fallouts older futuro time period thing they got going on.

As far as I know there are no gramophones in Fallout 3, however on the Fallout 3 Nexus I spotted a gramophone modder resource made by RegentEagle.

Yea a Gramophone, thats it! Thanks guys. I think I will try to use the one from Portable Gramophone, as its higher quality, provided I get permissions. But I'm really happy there is one out there, it will really add the mood I need to this. Thanks alot both of you! :D

If you are going to try to get permission via a message, you might have better luck on these forums. I might be mistaken but it looks like he hasn't logged into Fallout 3 Nexus in a while. Here is a link to the Portable Gramophone [RELz] topic on these forums: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1049237&hl=

But it's up to you, good luck with your modding. :)

Alright, if he doesnt respond by sometime tomorrow I will try there. Thanks! :D

Oh I do have a really off topic question (Thank my supposed ADD), so I don't really care if I get an answer or not. But do you guys think it would be a good idea, to release a 'demo' of my mod? Just like the first 15 minutes of gameplay it adds that set up the story? Or do you think that just nobody would play it, and it wouldn't really generate interest/ideas/help at all? Because I have the perfect breaking point where I could make pretty much a 'demo' for the mod. If I wanted, I could even make a trailer for the demo. I would find this fun, so should I do it no matter what and just try it? Or would it just be a waste of time, and I should spend it actually working on the mod? :P

I don't have very much experience modding yet, so I don't really know how people would react to it. I don't think a demo has ever been done before. But if you think it would be fun to do then I guess I would say create it if you want to. The one suggestion I do have though is if you do release your demo try to make it as bug free as possible, I think it wouldn't be a great advertisemant for your mod if it has bugs. Although again, I'm not really experienced at this yet.

Yea the one thing that mods lack a CRAPLOAD for Fallout 3 are Demo's and trailers. This is understandable for some, like how do you make a demo for something like FOOK/2 or FWE, or a weapons mod. But my mod focuses on adding additional places and quests to the game. So I can only release a small chunk of the quest, and it works as a demo. And I have some friends with like CS4 and some crazy video programs, that are going to help me make really awsome trailers/teasers for my mod. So I guess once I develope a few chunks of the story a bit more, I will make a demo and just put it out there, whether people play it or not. It should help some >.>

Uh..er...ahem - Being that I grew up in the 60s -70s, I would just like to point out that we had record players at that time (and 8 track tapes). Gramaphones are from the 1890s to 1930s. Only my grandparents ever used a real gramaphone and it was an antique at that time as well.

If you haven't done so, I would start a WIPz thread on the Fallout 3 Mods section of this community. That way, you can post progress reports and gauge peoples interest in your project.

Hope that helps!

Does the object "Lincoln's Voice" come close to what you need, model-wise?

Nah, I can start a thread for it myself if I need too. I did make a poll, and have decided not to make a demo, but will make trailers when its more complete. As well as some WIP threads. But thanks anyway.

Yea, I noticed now that is was way before the 60-70's and was more like <40's
