Is there going to be another guide book?

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2016 10:51 am

Is there going to be another Collector's Edition Strategy Guide book? I would like to pre-order it if there is.

Also can we buy Skyrim Remastered through the Xbox One store (or what ever it's called)? I like buying my games now without worrying about them being scratched. I am surprised I didn't see anything on the Xbox One store for this. Maybe I missed it. If so can we? If now when can we pre-purchase it?

Well Skyrim SSE is not due to be released until 28th Oct.....so you'll not see it for sale until then....pre-order quite probably.

As for Guide Book....I love the Prima official guide....its like 1000 pages including dlc.

But I don't see them printing another edition because there is no new game content!

Yes on the new book, and you can pre-order it.

Really....splutters!

I'll check it out....what can they be re-writing if the game content hasn't changed.....a new front cover maybe :P

Edit.....Seen it on Amazon....I think I'm correct....it looks like just a new cover to say Special Edition.

So if you must have everything ever done for Skyrim, then its one to buy.

But if you just want the full game guide with dlc which is the same between the covers.....well the "Legendary Edition" game guide should contain the same pages....no point in buying a second one...if you have it.

As always of course no one can know for sure until its seen.....so caveat emptor eh!

I wonder if the new version will have content related to the Dragonborn DLC. It always seemed weird to me that the previous version left that out but still covered Dawnguard and Hearthfire.

Frost Moglin, there was a third edition of the Prima Guide that included Dragonborn. It was as thick as a good sized city phonebook. You might be able to find one online.

Yeah that's the one I mean. Just had a look at the end....it is 1117 pages.

If you don't have one at all, the SSE version would be great because it has the latest cover.....but if you have the Legendary Edition copy already with the three dlcs....I don't THINK the SSE version can look any different inside.

These books are much more than just walk throughs. Every element of the game is opened out....just for one example....all of the alchemy ingredients, their effects, values and prime locations. Another...all the shouts explained and the words listed with their locations.

Hints and tips abound plus advice on what happens if you take the alternative quest endings.

An amazing tome......as a "howto" for everything in skyrim it is a 'Skill Book' in its own right :)

A new edition of the artbook would be very cool (for those who couldn't get it from the collector's edition).

Yes, if you join the Legion, the player's side wins, and if you join the Stormcloaks, the player's side wins ... never mind.

Hee, yeah, funny Ghastley...I like that...my humour too....but then not too surprising eh

But.....

Well...yes precisely (and it affect who is Jarl in each place etc)...plus you can

Spoiler
kill the whole DB faction off as a solution to their evil ways.....and choose whether to end a certain crazy jester fool!

You can also recruit new members to aid the MQ Blades protagonists

And choose to not be a werewolf for the Companions

plus other various changes to the otherwise linear quests

The big game guide book details exactly what choices you have and the outcomes of each.

The stupid thing about rejecting the beast blood, though, is that it ends the Companion quests. Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

I was wondering about this also. When I checked with Gamestop they didn't show one for preorder. I have one of the hardbacks. I mainly use it to look up potion mixtures. However the binder is starting to wear out a little.

I originally got the official game guide for Morrowind and it was quite nice, but some of those 3rd party ones didn't contain all secrets to some games

Thankfully there are some differences, but as Ghastley pretty much mentions they are too few and not very divergent.

The nice thing is you don't have to use it and get cured later. I guess they tried to make the next quest after that one more personal

I don't understand why people buy these strategy guides with all the info available on the Internet. A coffee table book full of concept art, sure - but a strategy guide?

It puts a lot of the information on the net in one place, where it can be easily accessed. I'll still use the internet for when I really get stuck, but prefer my 1000 page Legendary guide.

Possibly for the same reason readers continue to buy physical books in the age of the Kindle. People like to own things. They like to hold a book in their hands. They like to see a book on their shelves. It is human nature.

Some people do like to have a physical book and sometimes they do have useful information that is not outdated before the game is out. Some might have some background notes from the developers discussing aspects of creating the game. Maybe some concept art and other goodies.

I find the need for them less now but I do see some value in them especially if you might not have a steady internet connection and you just want to looks something up.

That's how I am. I love my Kindle and always buy books for it but my history books don't work well on it because of the maps and illustrations.

I am curious how old are you? For me it's something I always did. Before the internet there was only Strategy guides to get when you needed help in a game. Then they became obsolete because the quality wasn't there so didn't need to buy and use the internet, but now the quality came back to the strategy guides and are now more like a collection thing.

Also a lot of the strategy guides that come out now, especially the Collector's Edition are a work of art compared to days gone by.
