In non tes lore dragons use gems and they encrust them on their undersides for armor because those areas are weak.

Better be, if beth knows what's good for them.

I'm also hoping the dragons will all be individuals, not just a species.
Each dragon should be different, size, color, age... Not clone enemies using one model.

I highly doubt that the servants of the world-eater have the same habits as Smaug.

This a gazillion times.

It would be nice if they had extroardinary riches and some unique, powerful items. :hubbahubba: Worthy reward after a heroic battle.

It would be lovely to wade through plunder. I hope to to find bones, corpses, burnt things, whatever magical mystical powerhouses that charge dragons, and quite possibly an easter egg, too.

This thread has made me want a Smaug easter egg now. Big orange dragon in some obscure cave deep in the mountains. Make him a merchant with a ton of gold.

Naah. When dragons die they relaxes a certain set of muscles and leave behind the biggest pile of crap (literally) you've ever seen. Keep it as a treasure if you want to, but I'd expect many loot/crap trips to make it worthwhile. :) Golden treasures? Seriously?

Easteregg: "In the chest, all you find is a nice dress with the name Veronica sown in". Hey, it was a treasure to some :P

make it worth the players time by going into a dragons lair..make it hard but WELL worth the risk of pretty much dieing for tons of gold and unique weapons/armor.

I don't want to be mega-rich from completing the main-quest. I think the Elder Scrolls philosophy is that if you want to be rich you should seek that out on its own. If you want to save the world do the main-quest.

You do know that dragon treasure is usually cursed in folklore. A Creeper dragon would be cool though.

I think I'm right in saying that the dragons who have returned to Tamriel are "lesser dragons", and that their return was recent.

"Lesser" could mean a couple of things; smaller (therefore weaker) or less intelligent. If the first is true they may spend most of their time simply surviving, hunting for food, and if they are solitary, fighting other dragons for shelter or mates. If the latter is true they may be wild, unable to speak or hold a conversation.

In either case they may not have had a lot of time to steal and hoard a lot of treasure.

We've also been told that the soul of each defeated dragon will be absorbed by the player in order to learn new shouts. This will (hopefully) be hard-won and reward enough!

Normally I'd be all "eff your standard fantasy cliches, maaaaaaan." But Tolkiens stuff is heavily based on Norse mythology, which does fit the game. And I believe the dragon Fafnir had a horde of gold. And...there was some other one from Beowulf...

Anyways. I wouldn't mind a single dragon who has a horde, but it would be annoying for them all to have one.

Hmm, dragons guarding treasure or a beautiful dame. Not a bad idea.
Anyone else feeling an epic escape from a dragon, like Shrek did in his full steel armour, diving out of the way of fireballs, dodging flailing jaws and claws, and spanning impossibly thin and rickety bridges?
Well, kind of a lame and crappy example, but you get the idea. :P

They've mentioned random encounters with dragons in the wild. I wonder how many dungeons are going to be dragon lairs or something similar.

They better do something about that 2x4 foot dungeon door entrance if they're gonna put dragons in there...
But seriously, no I don't expect to see dragons in dungeons.

now way do I want them to do that, it means they'll spend less time on other things over something fairly super ficial. it depends upon how many dragons there will be, if there ARE hordes. then the asnwer is no, there is no way they are going to make more than two or three dragon types unless the number of dragons apearing is few instead of many.

I highly doubt that the servants of the world-eater have the same habits as Smaug.

this. I laughed so hard when I saw this. this is TES, not LOTR.
