Maybe we'll be able to favorate peices of armor into one suit for quick changes. That'd be welcome. At any rate, we'll get confermation in the fan interview, which hopefully comes out soon so people can sleep easy again.

Im not happy about it, but I dont mind, especially after playing so much fallout 3. I imagine there would just be way too many articles of clothing to keep track of--not that I would mind...

Still, as long as they put detail into the clothing, I'm fine with it. It is possible we will be able to make custum clothing too (confirmed as "sewing" crafting in a recent article--not the OPM)

If it is a missunderstanding (which I assume it is) I'm interested to know what exactly Todd said that made them think this

Reading your quote and the tweet makes it a little ambiguous. Not one piece and headgear could mean that the armour suit is one piece, but the head gear is seperate. I.E. you can change helmets no matter what armour you are wearing, but the armour set itself is all or nothing.

I don't know. I could be wrong, but Pete's reply seemed a little like the sort of vague, hastening, "I'll get back to you later," response that people sometimes make when they already know the exact and specific answer is one you probably won't like.

I hope for the best. We will just have to wait and see.

Magazines have been wrong on some things about Skyrim, and this is one of them.

But that's exactly how it worked in Fallout, and it has been said that it won't work that way.

There has been other tweets that armor is separate, but that reply implies that things are more complicated than that...

I've been asking for this since Skyrim was first announced. It would be great if we could put on a leather pauldron, wooden shoes, and a chiffon dress, and save it as "Celia's Night Out". Then go to our inventory and click once to put that outfit on.

According to that tweet, it's supposed to be clarified in the fan interview, which posts Tuesday? So yeah. Not too much point in speculating/complaining.

Whether or not this is true, the thread title horrified me.

Bethesda would have to know they would be alienating the fan-base. We as Elder Scrolls fans are here for a reason. We love the freedom, the customization, and the immersive worlds. If they start watering their game down, we may as well play Fable or Dragon Age. We want choice.

This better be misinformation...

Defnitely a downer if correct which I doubt
Still the ability to mix and match clothing and armour is hardly essential to RPGs
Both in videogames and PnP most RPGs from D&D onwards have had sets of armour rather than individual pieces

There is quite a bit of info in that article I just saw it 20 mins at the store. More than I read in the tread about it the other day. Fallout style dialog options, foxes that hunt rabbits, ore is used to upgrade armor/weapons, you can carry more than in OB, giants indeed are herding the mammoths, it say while there was 60,00 line in SR, OB had 40,000, And it also seems that legs and upper body are 1 slot now. There are more pics of armor in the mag and while there is space between gantlets and boots there never is between upper and lower parts of armor. So I think these means we have 1 less slot compared to OB(like how robes take up 2 slots).

There was more...just hard for me to recall it all....

Possibly a misunderstanding? Judging by the screenshots in the article it looks like the info could be wrong...

Could mean that instead of examining one piece of armour in 3D you examine the whole suit? I think people who say that they outright won't play the game if there are single suits are a bunch of f'ing idiots though..

I hope it's like you say it.

If thats right it wouldn't be too big a loss IMO
1 slot for armour/clothing, seperate slots for boots, gauntlets and helm. Sounds liveable with

There is too much evidence against this. Pete Hines confirmed the armor is separate and unlike Fallout 3 just 11 days ago.

The likely case is that armor sets in your inventory are now displayed as one piece rather than separate pieces.

Fallout had 3 slots, Assuming SR upper/lower armor parts are combined(like robes in OB) that would make 9 slots(also assuming the other slots returning from OB). Based on pics of armor that is my guess, 1 less slot. Pete would be right and so would the mag. I don't agree with the 1 slot removal but having 9 instead of 10 slots(like OB) is not a major hit esp if there are extra armor types(as Todd has said).

The screenshots prove that the main armor is in two pieces.

More proof The Armor is in separate pieces (at least gloves and headgear is)

Compare the Picture of Khajiit here http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/KhajiitTemple.jpg

and The Nord with Horned helm on the magazine

They are wearing the same armor and pauldron BUT with different gloves, headgear, and hopefully different boots and greaves (cannot see them in the Khajiit pic you see)

So its NOT the same of Fallout 3, i dont know how complex or simplified it would be from previous ES

but hopefully Beth wont betray any fans

cheers

I have seen no proof of that, I saw that pic comparison(I think you posted) and it was not convincing. I hope they are 2 pieces, but I suspect 1. The playstation mag pics lead me to believes this more than I had already.

I found this article disturbing also, Oblivion was my runaway game, I loved making my character unique.. I know Skyrim with let us do this, but FO3 didn't even let you pick shoes.. but you have to remember the original Fallout games were the same way as the third. I know nothing other than you blokes.. All we can do is pray and hope. ;3

I don't know. I have a feeling they won't do that, afterall Pete has said it wouldn't go to the level of Fallout's less mix-and-match style in terms of the torso and pants.

As Customization is love by all I'd be displeased at Bethesda if it were true.

But I don't really care, I'm an old Black Isle fan not a Bethesda fan. Majority of their game mechanics are ripped from Black Isle's games, Bioware's, or others.(Yes I know everyone steals everyone elses ideas. You can't truely be all that original). And TES's mechanics have never had -True- depth. It only appears that way. Looking at you TES Attributes.

But again I hope that is not the case. Lack of customization is a bad thing. They'd be idiots to change it. I mean Bethesda's publishing arm latest games include Brink.

They should know how people love having control of their in game appearance and what bits they wear from head to toe.
