So there is a line in the new PS3 game article which says clothing has been simplified, and clothes and armour will now go on as a complete set rather than as individual articles.

Am I alone in being really rather displeased with this news, if true?

It seems like no matter how many different sets of clothes and armour the game offers, it cannot offer more customization than if it allowed you to mix, match, leave off, and otherwise choose the specifics of your outfits and how you will wear them, how much you will wear of them, and whether or not you will mix them with other things.

I find this very unlikely, but I am going to be quite serious when I say that I wont play an elder scrolls game with suit style armor

Pete said items were not as they were in Fallout.

I think thats all that need to be discussed.

If you are right, I am happy. I am not into complaining for its own sake. I hope the line was incorrect or the result of a misunderstanding, and outifits are as variable as ever.

I dont believe it (yet)

I have heard people say that if this is true, it is the last straw and they will no longer buy the game.
And I can sympathise with that sentiment.
It would be incredibly stupid, lazy and a slap in the face of all TES fans were this to be true, and I give Bethesda more credit than that.
So I dont believe it.

I had hoped they had done it for Fo3 back then too. It would have been so totally cool to put up a patch work armor, outfit in a post-apocalyptic environment.

I'm not even sure if I'll bother buying skyrim if they have fallout type armor.

Possibly a misunderstanding? Judging by the screenshots in the article it looks like the info could be wrong...

Could mean that instead of examining one piece of armour in 3D you examine the whole suit? I think people who say that they outright won't play the game if there are single suits are probably being a bit overly hysterical....

It's entirely possible (given the changes to the Nif format that were seen in FO3) that entire outfits could be a single mesh but different pieces of that mesh would be separate objects in game(this would be something new). This would lend itself nicely to layered outfits and save a little bit of size in assets.

Because your ability to wear armor doesn't make or break a game. Fallout 3 was good, no?

Well, there's the whole rest of the game to play... the beautiful world, the original quests, the variety of weapons, the dungeons and exploration etc. etc. etc. I wouldn't blame you for not buying if all those things were collectively a bit mediocre or bad in your opinion, but just for the clothes? 'F'ing idiots' was probably a bit strong though I'll admit...

EDIT: slightly ninja'd...

Fallout 3 was a good game for sure, but it wast a very good RPG, if they included a morrowind/oblivion/daggerfall'ish system to fallout 3, the game would've been miles better as an RPG.

A TES game without actual armor customization rather quickly just turns into some action exploration game.

TES for some people (including me) is all about building your character, of which half is his/her gear. If you take that away, it breaks the game to a major degree

Only reason why it was full suits in Fallout 3 was because in previous Fallout games it was the same in terms of customisation.

There were one-piece outfits in Oblivion. PSM might have seen one like those and jumped to conclusions.

It must have been an mis-use of words, it must mean that all pieces of armour from the same material are grouped into single suits in the inventory screen.

That is a likely possibility.

We have had about a half a dozen mistakes in articles since Skyrim's announcement so I'm not going to assume just because it's in print it's fact.

Yea actually.. isn't it also possible tha they ment that they in the gameplay they saw were "given a full set of armor" as in, they just had all set pieces?
