There might be some hope for DX11 with crysis 2

Post » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:55 am

Apparently tommorrow morning at 6am pst nvidia is going to announce its new flagship video card as shown here on this youtube vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLFVll0P6CI&feature=player_embedded and if you look at the screen in the background you will clearly see crysis 2 playing in the background.

It could be that dx11 is being held back for the release of this new nvidia card, after all nvidia did pay crytek 2 million for crysis 2 to take advantage of its video cardds as shown here in this article.

So before we go blowing up at crytek for not having all the features we might want to see what nvidia does first before we crucify crytek

This is really interesting stuff. I'm just perplexed as to why Crytek wouldn't have just waited for the release of the new card before releasing the game if this is indeed their plan.

well the game is out now in the united states but its not out in the U.K and maybe some other parts of Europe. So technically if they we're to out it tommorrow then it still would be within the release window

more news it looks like some retailers have started selling the new nvidia gtx 590 before nviida announces it.

http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/News/252210,gigabyte-geforce-gtx-590-appears-in-retail.aspx

the card comes in at 1099.00 so more than likely if there going to show off crysis 2 with this card then there maybe somethings with crysis 2 we have yet to see

like DX11

Which results in crap performance on anything BUT their flagship GPU.

that would be silly but I bet it will run better on the nvidia card. after all nvidia did pay crytek 2 million.

A killer uber expensive card needs a , killer app in order to justify its high price tag.

Well... I am hoping Crytec releases DX11 with the card and you know what would be nice??? Updated textures that will be part of the patch. But I'm just dreaming. I want to hear my GTX 460 SSC+ scream and beg for mercy.

Imagine the uproar if Unigraphics paid Seagate or AMD or Intel to make sure that AutoCAD software ran poorly on their hardware.
Same thing with a browser...what if Firefox suddenly was aweful on any computer with an AMD chipset?

Why? If it's legal for GPU's using a standard API, why not for other hardware? Get Western Digital to add one custom command to their SATA protocol and say this is why it's faster on WD drives than the rest and collect a few million$?

You guys are acting like AMD cards don't do DX11....

Anyway, isn't the GTX590 just 2 GTX 580s on the same board? It's not like this card is a completely new architecture or anything.

This is nothing but a bad guess on your part and should be framed as such. Why would nVidia take the time to piss off their most loyal buyers for 0 gain. The 590 would look a LOT better being born into established and tested driver base.

I'd say no hope for dx11 at all guys. Removed from nvidias website as a feature of the game, and removed as a feature of the cryengine 3. I'd say crytek pulled the wool over all our eyes for the sake of first day sales.
