Is there a mod that adds quest markers?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:30 am

I've been trying to get into this game for ages now but I'm turned off by the lack of quest markers. I'm sorry Oblivion has spoiled me, but to quote the word of Maiq, "M'aiq is glad he has a compass. Makes it easy to find things. Much better than wandering around like a fool." I 100% agree with Maiq on this one. So is there a mod that adds quest markers to all the quests in the game or at least the main quest?

I don't think its even possible, however, there are plenty of good strat guides with detailed maps out there...but a compass/game marker mod would be likely impossible or at least very hard to implement without some pretty heavy handed scripting.

The thing is I'm playing on a PC and can't pull up the internet while in game and strategy guides seem like cheating.

There's always Pen and Paper to make your notes on.

I will mention that in Morrowind the dialog that NPCs say is usually very important and has directions, but you may only be able to read it once. So read carefully.
Your Journal also will often have clues.

That's already available when you install Morrowind, Tribunal in the GOTY version. Just double click on the local or world map to bring up the note editor.

Nope, I don't know any mod that does that (it's not possible to implement in vanilla Morrowind to my knowledge). Just stick to walkthroughs, UESP, and the good ol' COC command.

You can always re-read what NPCs say when you check under the topic in your journal.

It's a rare quest location that is especially difficult to find, but there are some. I seem to recall that there is least one where the directions you are given are actually wrong. *chuckle* I own `The Morrowind Prophecies`` for just such occasions.

What OS are you using then? Under Win XP Pro, I play full screen mode and have no problems doing a ctrl+tab to get to desktop from which I can open other apps and check the internet, etc. Alternatively, less immersive, but under WinXP Pro you can play the windowed mode and shift to other apps. And, as previously noted, may not be a 'marker', but you can always add editable notes to the map.

Quest markers are just as close to cheating as the strategy guide.

Either way you're using information your character couldn't possibly know to speed up your gaming experience. I would just get a guide if you need direction and can't do something crazy like an iPad.

Quest markers are not cheating. Strategy guides contain spoilers. It is possible for a character to know this info. The person giving directions circles the location on your map obviously.
