unless there is a quest i don't yet know about?

well i would love a quest where you go and set up a TV broadcast that the TVs in settlements can pick up.

there is plenty of intact Video broadcast equipment in Boston, it would be cool to have a quest where you go and get a station up and running. (hint hint wink wink MOD IT YOU FOOLS)

it would be a cool little bit of prewar video like at the start or heck maybe get to watch the Special Videos in-game?

That's weird, because the SPECIAL videos are in the game. A suggested ini tweak that supposedly should disable the intro movie instead caused a random SPECIAL video to play instead :lmao:

I assumed those would play on TVs if you powered them in settlements

The SPECIAL movies play intermittently anyway, even without that tweak.

Sadly, just because a movie can play full-screen doesn't mean it can play as a 3d plane in-game. This'll probably be like Skyrim, where the closest you could get was making a huge texture with the frames of a movie at very low resolution, and then animating that texture on an object. I got it working on a sort of dwemer TV, but the results were... disappointing, to say the least.

Wasteland cooking show, some more old survival cartoons, maybe a current events talk show. Enough people seem to have figured out power armor and laser rifles but no one can get a tv working. I'm starting to think this is what the world would look like if it were over run by small children. Everythings makeshift and sloppy 200 years later. then Piper has a regular magazine but how many people can be literate in this world? The wasteland survival guide at least looks like it is picture heavy and drawn by a child.

then NPC's complain like they've ever known anything different. One guy said "so we can get back to more than just surviving" when was he ever doing more than barely surviving. Think he'd be used to it by now. Another one was like a good day for me is when I'm not hungry. I'm like i got 30 food and there's only 13 of you quit complaining. Mutfruit seems to grow just fine.

GTA seemed to figure out a way to watch the TV.

Well, that does make much more sense.

The rest of that sounds like what modders did to make animated display in old Doom maps :lmao: Well, that was a lot simpler of course, it just had special textures that cycled trough different variations, used in the waterfalls in the base game.

Heh, yeah, and I'm sure FO4 could too. It'd just be a pain to mod in without proper code support by Bethesda.

But who knows, maybe there's something buried in there that'll let it happen...

there is if nothing else, versions of TV that do already play little cycles. simplist way would be to just add in the ability to craft a pre-war TV I.E. the ones that's in your house at the start.

im certain that would not take much

You want a TV I just want a walky talky to say "Hey Preston I'm done with that [censored], what else do you have for me?"

Something for them to add in a DLC most likely.

GTA had whole TV shows kind of a shame to see that fallout is maybe a poormans open world game with a TV but nothing on it. Would have been a perfect way to merge the worlds together to have more immersion. Maybe a dlc could add this so the game feels more polished?

How is this different from the world we live in now? Crap TV is the same as having no TV.
