Is there a place where I can download the original fallouts?

Is there a website that allows people to download FO2 or FO1 for free?

http://fallout.gamesplanet.com/game-fallout-trilogy2-interplay.html

Or you can find them on http://www.gog.com

EDIT: Sorry I misread. The original Fallouts aren't freeware of abandonware. You still need to purchase a license to play the games. Playing the originals unlicensed is an act of piracy, and would not be condoned on these forums. Either way I wouldn't know where to point you.

Your only choice (I know of) is to purchase the content.

Yep, that's the best you're going to get.

The 1st, 2nd and tactics games are in a compilation that runs about 25$.

The original disks and boxes are harder to come by though.

I'd honestly suggest you go support GoG with your purchase. I mean, the Fallout games there are cheap, always downloadable and guaranteed to be adjusted to support any new Windows version then. ^_^

I was gonna go with the GOG option bc 6 bucks is rly cheap considering how much time il prolly end up putting into it. Does anybody have suggestions on a character build?

Whatever you want.

You can beat the original fallouts without fighting, or you can blast everyone out of your way. I normally go with a mix of both, though beating the game without fighting is rewarding.

I suggest building a character that suits your playing style. S.P.E.C.I.A.L was a finely balanced system in the originals. I'd advise you not to severely gimp any of your stats.

I always favored Intelligence and Agility for my characters - INT not only gives you more skill points (crucial), you also get more/unique dialogue options. For each point of Agility you get one additional action point, and you can never have enough of those in a turn-based game. :)

Skill-wise you're probably best off tagging small arms, other combat skills aren't really an option unless you specifically want a melee character for example (plus you won't find energy or big guns until later, by which time you'll have enough skill points to have raised the skills naturally). Speech is always a sound choice, and for the third lockpick would be good (unlike FO3, FO1 and 2 doesn't have a handy terminal next to each locked door so if you can't pick the lock, you're screwed... Unless you can force it open with brawn or boom :D).

Character Action Points start at a base of 5, then is raised one half per point of Agility, the investment of 2 points in Agility constitutes 1 Action point. I'm no good with equations, so this explanation will have to do.

Ah you're right of course, really need to be heading for some sleep already. The formula is 5 + AG / 2. :)

Not cheaper than direct download from GoG (with no shipping costs). :)

Yeah that's how I would have written the equation, but something to do with brackets confuses the hell out of me :P

Depends if you're lucky enough to find them in-store. Game stores here in the UK seem to stock older titles quite consistently I've noticed. I was fortunate enough to spot mine in-store about a month back.

Yup, I'm a new real GoG fan. The Fallouts, the Gothics, Freespace...wow. And they all work perfectly.

Glad I found this thread!

I just joined GOG and downloaded Fallout 2. You can't beat their low price ($5.99) and the fast download

Thank you posters for a great find!

One thing about the GoG versions is that they're patched to the version that doesn't have kids. This is fairly simple to fix with a fan-made patch, but it's something to note.
