Is there a possibility that the AI aren't complete morons?

In the trailer where the synth is crouching.

We are talking about F4 here.

I'm not going to hold my breath on "intelligent" AI.

mhouse - once again for emphasis - you are looking a t a 2 second clip. We don't know how the encounter happened, we don't know how it continues, and we don't know hoe it ends. Besides for all we know synths are deranged rogue units. After Roy Batty was not exactly known for hiding behind cover either. He just dodged or took the damage while moving in to beat up Decker. So based on your assertion Blade Runner has terrible AI.

Ah. Ok.

Perhaps "AI" actually stands for "Artificial idiocy"......

Im not saying its a fact, im just speculating and making my thoughts about it.

mhouse - what part of the word rogue is hard for you to understand? Nice way to ignore the whole point of my comment. A rogue unit by DEFINTION is not working as designed.

A computer is made for being smart, powerfull not dumb.

Androids were made to help humans in difficult tasks.

But they became so smart that they knew that humans were using them as their slaves .

It is only a theory since we do not know really anything about them, but they do not look like the only android we have to work with. to avoid spoilers I will just call him the android in Fallout 3. Based on the before photo we know that he looked human. These do not look human, which implies , to me, that they are either rebelling against that humanity or that they are the equivalent of the feral ghouls that mad at the realization. Science Fiction is cluttered with stories of androids and robots that could not cope with the realization that they were made by humans and then either self destruct or go on a rampage.

Based on the videos available, I haven't noticed any improvements in AI performance over previous.

This isn't to say there isn't an improvement, but, it might be worth notice the lack of any spotlights dedicated to demonstrating better AI of any significance.

Crafting and base building got spotlighted. Power Armor with a jetpack got a spotlight. Bullet Time VATS got a spotlight. Character Generation got a spotlight. Pipboy got a spotlight. The dog and interactions with the dog got a spotlight.

If there were important, or noticeably demonstrable improvements to AI, one would think it might get spotlighted.

Perhaps in future videos or trailers, if there are any?

Whatever the case, there's no real obvious improvement beyond speculation based on the videos available, unless one wants to count the dog's ability to track a fly as an indication of improved AI.

Here is hoping!

If nothing else there have been some great FO3 and FONV mods to improve the AI.

Ok, imagine your walking through the wasteland, on some quest no doubt. Your packing a modified mini-gun, your wearing power armour(with a "hellokitty" face painted on the helmet)your followers are tagging along behind you(except for one who has got him/herself inexplicably stuck behind a small stone, they're still running away on the spot though bless them)they are also kitted out fairly respectively weapons/armour wise. Then, there's a lone raider, armed with . . . a lead pipe, his/her armour consisting of a skimpy little leather number which doesn't seem to offer much in the way of ballistic protection. Now at this point maybe said raider should perhaps reconsider their options, maybe not being violently shot to death might be a good career move at this point. But no, they run blindly towards you only to be violently shot to death.
Maybe have it so if they are hopelessly outnumbered/gunned they keep their distance and remain passive, unless of course you approach them, skyrim touched on this with some of the bandits where if you stayed away they left you alone, so the mechanic is already there they just need to improve on in somewhat.

Well, even better.

Well, having played BGS games since Oblivion, i just don't buy that, as none of the enemies have ever acted in any intelligent manner
