There is a reason why auto-aim exist for controllers........

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:20 pm

I'm playing it on PC with a 360 controller, it was pretty **** rough in the beginning but I'm getting the hang of it now, currently at 1.64 k/d ratio and climbing rapidly. Just set the sensitivity more or less high and learn to cope.

This is the first pc game I play online on a regular basis, though I've played some TF2 before (with keyboard/mouse), on consoles I generally sit around 2.50 k/d ratio on rush down and like 10 ratio when sniping.

Edit: 2.10 now and still climbing, seems like pc players svck just as much as console players.

as far as i have read things: you are way more precise with the mouse than with the gamepad.
and that truly is something undeniable....

so... why there should be no aim assist on the PC:

i plug my gamepad into my PC. the game will recognize the gamepad and do what? yeah! turn aim assist on. but what will i do first?
i WILL put the **** gamepad somewhere on the side but leave it plugged in. then i WILL use the keyboard and the mouse. no programm will see me cheating and i will only have headshots in the future with my fine keyboard/mouse aim assist -.-

Some of you should learn how to read first before you comment. I created this thread because if a game has controller support is should FULLY SUPPORT CONTROLLER. This game had people thinking that it had aim-assist (again controllers need aim assist because of the fundamental flaw of thumb to joystick).........so If you bought this game thinking that they were going to play it competitively with a controller you got screwed. You cannot be competitive in the game against K/M players without it. If this game was fully meant to be played with a k/m then it would not have support for controllers.

READ MY POST AGAIN. DO NOT JUST READ A PART AND COMMENT ON ONE PARAGRAPH.......READ THE ENTIRE POST.

This is why I hate the PC community and will not purchase Multiplayer shooters for pc. I will PIRATE single player and buy the multiplayer for consoles.
You people complain that Crysis 2 has been dumbed down because it caters to console players.....well this is the reason why. You should be more accomidating to new pc players and not so dismissive. Instead you bich and moan. K/m is better, controller svck go back to console. Do you hear yourselfs. This is why crysis and call of duty is more geared to console players. It takes alot of knowledge and dedication to gaming to become a pc player(Money too). So when someone comes to console you should try to welcome them. But you don't you treat them like ****. Then when they go back to console because of all the problems they face with pc........

I CAN play very well with a k/m and controller. But somtimes its more relaxing to play with a controller. Not everything is meant to be played with a K/M. You should have the option in PC games because a pc is about options and having more control.

Even when they had it in the game, the Aim-assist would not work if the game detected mouse input.

Hmm, is this like the time where a gamepad user is complaining why he get trashed by an arcade stick user in VS games, and demand autocombo?

If you want to use a controller, get a console, it is designed for it. Even if the controller is designed to work on PC, the Pc was never designed to use a controller.

Now you';re just showing that you're like 14 years old. We had joysticks on our computers before shooter games even existed.

They might svck for FPS games, but you can't be a serious PC gamer without a gamepad of some sort.

While I remember the days of the Tac 2 joystick with a smile... saying that you can't be a serious gamer without a gamepad is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've heard anybody say in reference to PC-gaming... ever.

Hahaha...ha!

It might have been nice to have had the option should you take the highly unwise choice to use a controller on a PC fps in multi-player...

Something like a little toggle on off dialogue pop up if it detected a pad was inserted. I honestly don't think that would have unbalanced the game too much. I have both the pc and 360 version and can attest, the auto aim is really quite subtle on the xbox. We are not talking cod levels of auto snap here, its barely there and precision shots are still the order of the day.

Still, PC versions should be about choice. I can understand people getting irritated by the consoleifcation of recent PC games, but for whatever reason crytek choose to support one controller option in single player which is rather nerfed in multiplayer... even though the beta and demos both had these options. Auto aim on/off if the system detects a pad might have been a solution.

Well said. I've been trying to get into PC gaming for a while but the k/m controller issue is a bich. I bought this game on PC because I enjoyed the demo where I could switch between the 2 control choices as I saw fit. Now I'm forced to use k/m which just doesn't seem as responsive to my finely honed home console skills.
Yes the mouse is better but everything else is way worse. If I'd known this update was coming I would have got the game on the 360. Now I feel like I've waisted £30.

Edit: And just to point out, I'm not that bad with k/m. But I kicked so much ass in the demo it was painful to see. Maybe the issue is that console players might ,on occasion, be better. If we're on a even playing field. Cryteck just shouldn't have had a menu option for it. No one turns it off if they are using a controller any way.

I completely understand why controllers have aim assist, its because a joystick will always spring back to its center as soon as any pressure is let off it. A mouse will stay where you put it until you physically move it again. The problem is your in our world on the pc and have to play by our rules here.

PC + Gamepad + FPS = Dumbest thing ever.

QFT

Plus, they already made the decision to take it out because most players didn't want it, they won't be putting it back. Don't want to use a mouse? Don't play PC.
