There was a Moon Battle?!

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:48 am

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zauRj8oR6r8So this video pretty much sums up the theory that there was a battle on the moon, more specifically the sea of tranquility. Based on Bethesdas banner they posted on FB.

If this is indeed new cannon space lore that Bethesda is adding then my personal belief is that it was between two governments and not aliens. If this did happen then I believe they probably took inspiration from the space race era, which is pretty damn cool.

TLDR; Quite possibly new cannon space lore introduced into Fallout. A battle taking place on the moon. (Not confirmed).

That would be interesting. We have seen the concept art of the aliens and if i remember correctly there were a couple of different "species" of aliens there. I would like to see the space race portrayed but i always have a thing for melting aliens into goo piles haha.

You could see in the image, the astronaut in the left side is holding something that could either be:

- A laser

- A scanner

However, considering that the image is part of a mural from the Freedom Museum in Concord that details about the evolution of the struggle for "freedom" from 1776 to 2077, it may be an army astronaut.

May not have been aliens they fought, could have faced off against the Chinese or some other world power that also wanted the moon

U.S. was not at war with the Russky in the Great War. Apparently, their relation was warm enough that they have embassies and the citizens of each country could visit the other country.

Likely, it was China.

Well, it wouldn't be a resource war if we weren't fighting it out over resources.

Though the fact the US suspended its space agency due to waning resources suggests that perhaps we weren't the victors of that conflict. We won Anchorage...they may have gotten the Moon.

I highly doubt that they would be so public with the a battle vs aliens on the moon considering that Aliens are classified.

It could also be artistic license and propaganda of the pre-war administration.

The Great War lasted only a few hours we don't actually know who exactly we were at war with then. The Resource wars that preceded it are another matter

I don't see the big deal. We know the Chinese had missiles so they could have gone to the moon. Some time during the Sino-American war they had a small scrimmage on the moon. There is Helium-3 on the moon that would be highly valuable.

a moon battle with the chinese sounds plausable for the fallout universe.

You can find the what is basicaly the same mural in DC, only with the Apolo lander and without the Nulear detonation and power armor. So did we fight a war on the moon?

Would not be that surprised to see something like that was in Boston given that 2076 was the three hundred year Aniversery of that event???

^^ - Indeed, maybe they take a page from "The 100", meaning all the nations had either space stations (well, the big ones!) or moon bases (they might have banded together in order to survive!)...I mean there's space weapons platforms after all (Archimedes II and that satellite the Enclave used in Broken Steel!)

I'd love to go to the moon (hell, maybe we'd meet the Hubologists and the Ghouls from Repcon again!!!)

greetings LAX

ps: Or the Enclave went to the moon (they had access to alien tech...the saucer in New Vegas has a tag "Property of Area 51" after all!)...far more secure than an oil rig after all :)

Well, we know thanks to Nobark Noonan that the Commies wanted to paint Lenin's face on the moon in pink. :P

I wouldn't find a battle on the moon in Fallout to be at all implausible. I also wouldn't find it implausible that it's over-the-top Pre-War propaganda. Or both. ;)

If there was actually a moon battle, that holds some interesting implications. First, the U.S. (Or China?) may have had a way of staying in low gravity conditions for long periods of time, with self sustaining bases. Hell, it's possible that a modified Vault-Tec vault could survive on the moon without much issue. This is gonna sound like a Wolfenstein copy-paste, but I'd be surprised if the Enclave didn't have an extremely large moon base.

However, I'm also interested in the possibility of aliens. More specifically, that the aliens were the ones that triggered the divergence between our world and the Fallout world. After all, for some time, they were exactly the same. To me, it doesn't make sense for them to suddenly go different directions without some kind of outside catalyst.

I can't remember where I read this but wasn't that a proposed or an implied plan, to eventually recolonize the moon? It's not-canon, but I'm sure it's not wild conjecture either.

Edit:

Supposedly this was going to be implied in van buren?

Now that you mention it, I think I heard that somewhere as well. I think canon says that it failed or something? I'm not sure...it might have been mentioned in Van Buren, that one was about a scientist named Presper (I think) launching nukes from satellites or something like that.

There was much speculation that the Enclave was working on and developed alien technology. Skynet tells you he was made from alien tech and he is the first "thinking computer." The Zax "self awareness" computers are developed shortly after Skynet. Theses computers were made to develop other technologies at SAD(skynet) and Boulder Dome(Zax) such as cyber brains, cryogenics and biogel. So indirectly much of what you see in Fallout is based this Enclave research.

From what I recall, cut content in Fallout 2 was going to suggest that the Vault experiments were done by the enclave to test various scenarios they might encounter when trying to colonize another planet.

I don't believe it was the moon they were trying to colonize however.

I have a feeling we might be seeing a ton of high tech stuff in this game. Exciting!

Edit: That awkward moment when you realize aliens may have been hugely influential in the Fallout universe before Bethesda got a hold of the series.
