Is there a way to change Morrowind of PC without losing all

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:21 am

I don't have to do it at the moment but it'll probably come early next year and I don't know really how to do it.. I have a LOT of mods, fortunately most of them are cosmetics so my savegames shouldn't be affected if I don't play the game with the mods but if possible I would like to you know, keep them without having to reinstall and re-download the whole lot of them..

At first I thought of just installing the game, and then copypasting my original Morrowind folder with all the mods over the new one but I guess it'd cause problems for mods that are more complicated than simple graphical upgrades or .esp.

My new PC will be a Desktop so hopefully I won't have to get a whole new PC ever again (I use a laptop atm).

Soo.. if there's a way that works I'd really like to know !

Cleaning your save with Wrye Mash should tie up a lot of loose ends with that. Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable will come along and help a bit more.

Just copy whole Morrowind folder onto a pendrive or external HDD, then install the game on new PC and paste-over files form previous installation.

If you haven't got an external HDD etc you could archive your Morrowind folder using 7zip or similar utility , upload to a temporary file hosting service such as yousendit , then download your archive directly onto your new desktop.
