IS there a way to stop beig vilified from the powder gangers : Fallout: New Vegas

He helped the gangers take the town and "received rep with the gangers" which promptly disappeared. I mean disappeared too. The gangers weren't even on my rep list despite being hated with goodsprings..not neutral not hated not liked...nothing.

This is happening with other factions as well. Its not this quest specific.

It doesn't matter if you take down the prison or help the Powder Gangers - if you kill Eddie or not.

The game will apparently report failiure in retaking the prison on the radio and the end sequence no matter what. It's a bug, and according to a modder on the nexus there is not even a success radio file in the game lol.
