Is there a way to turn off BLUR?

Hey everyone,

First off, I bought the game because of the amazing graphics it has been pushing, as well as my new computer being able to handle gaming for once.

Here's my specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HPE-510f
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6570
Available OS Memory: 8192MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

At first I set my graphics to extreme and jump into multiplayer FFA mode. It's stuttering and jumpy/twitching all over the place, and moving is just painful to watch. Obviously can't play at this mode, it's too much for my system apparently. I am getting killed left and right, easily.

So I set it down to "High" which is the lowest availale. This improves my fps issue, and makes it somewhat handle better and a bit more smooth moving around. Okay perfect, I can manage this! I manage to get a few kills when I'm not being cloak/stabbed by every camper/sniper out there.

But the thing that has stopped me from playing this game altogether is the motion blur. It gives me a headache. I cannot play for more than 10 minutes before I have to quit. It's so hard to even focus on anything, and I'm a player who likes to run around, use cover, look left and right everywhere I go, whenever entering a new area, I'm constantly looking left/right as fast as I can to check for enemies. I play a very aggressive style with lots of running/scanning/shooting.

Any suggestions for what I can do? I'd love to play this game more, but if it hurts my eyes, I'm sorry I wasted the $60.

The setting you want to disable is called PostMSAA. It blurs the screen, which looks sort of good, but integrated graphics cards can't handle it. We were able to shut it off in version 1.2, but the latest patch locks the setting.

The other blurry effect, motion blur, is also unfixable. You can turn it off but then you get graphics glitches.

Oh sorry, I thought I had my videocard posted on there as well. It's not integrated, its Radeon HD 6570.

I think I'm going to buy a TV screen tomorrow and hook it up to my HD cable instead. That way the screen will be bigger and I can play from a further distance (not so hard on the eyes).

Would it help to install more RAM in my machine? I'd like to upgrade to 16GB, but I can't even find 4GB sticks in my area... Futureshop svcks.

Pull down the console and type r_motionBlur 0 Not sure if it works in MP but it does in SP.

It wouldn't help at all, the most VRAM crysis2 uses is about 950mb, if you have a 1gb video card, then your ram is hardly used at all, only when your video card vram is maxed out does the ram really kick in, back in the days of crysis1 ram was used a lot cause the video cards didn't have enough vram at the time.

It works in MP if you type in the command when you're in game. But whenever you're in critical health, or an explosion occurs nearby, your screen will become black momentarily.

I turn it off as well.. I don't get a black screen when massive blur would kick in (near death, sliding) but I do get images stacked and flickering and other ugliness.

but, yeah.. pull down the console with the ~ key and type r_motionblur=0 (and hit enter).. you have to do it once you get on a server, and every time you change servers (but not between maps on a given server). I've found that sometimes I can get the console to drop during loading screens so you can get it typed and applied before you spawn.. waiting until you spawn often means a quick death :D
