Is there a way to update WITHOUT Live?

Simply, I cant connect to live.

Can I still update new vegas in some form?

Ive updated my xbox by putting the update on my flashdrive

is there a similar option?

Not that I know of. I haven't herd any game being updated through a flashdrive. I believe you need live to do so, but I am not 100% shure.
