Theres got to be a better way to scrap things right?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 12:33 am

lets take this scenario

house full of junk in sanctuary.

i want to clear everything in there out.

ive got to select the item, select to scrap and then confirm on everything....................... its TEDIOUS. multiple that tedium by 10 for an entire town and you get 'what were they thinking?'

surely, for the love of god, theres a way to just set some mode to just mash a button/key to scrap everything that becomes highlighted?

yes i know that could be dangerous in the sugar filled veins of some people as they 'track and field there way through the assets of the entire game', but the alternative at the moment is really sapping my will to live.

please tell me theres a better way?

If you're talking about the build feature then it looks like you have to do it manually for things laying around.

For items you can pickup though, you can throw them into the build module storing and it'll automaticly scrap junk. Just press the store all junk button.

I feel the same. Should be a feature to atleast have a bubble like thing that could scrap everything inside it.

wtf?

thats gotta be a bug, otherwise whats the point of making a cool looking settlement only to have random [censored] appearing everywhere after a day or two.

Bethesda doesn't do well designed user interfaces, sadly. Darn is gone, but hopefully the SkyUI guys are willing to fix another mess.

*sigh*

looks like you cant speed up scrapping stuff.

most i found was the tag option which will highlight things with specific components you want.

thats useful.

mass scrapping, or scrapping faster is more useful though Bethesda!!

There needs to be a JUNK BOX that you can create on the Settlement that automatically utilizes the Junk you store when crafting. Would be a HUGE help.
Same thing for crafting anything really.

Are you talking about assets that are already in the game? Or a fresh building in a settlement? I'm not sure if you could destroy assets in an existing building, maybe somebody can correct me on this.

Junk in the crafting station storage will be scrapped automatically on use. You can see who part is used then crafting something.

This does not work for weapon and armor, note that perks will let you get more out of them so don't scrap unless you need too early.

Food like raw meat will be used in cooking station to make more food.

Got to agree, the scrapping is a little tedious. To the extent I'm not enjoying it so much as I hoped.

I guess it will change the more I learn. At the moment, I'm collecting everything, and taking back to Sanctuary.
Then I'm dropping it all, then scrapping. Or storing items I used to sell in FO3. Armour and weapons mostly. I've yet to find the first vendor, so not sure how the selling part works.
I'm just assuming I'll want to be selling some stuff, to get caps to buy ammo, stims etc?

The reason I'm dropping and scrapping, I've read conflicting reports. Saying if you build items with un scrapped parts, you waste any unused components, and others saying you don't.
Ie if the game uses an item with copper and glass, but the item you craft only needs glass, it would just delete the copper. Rather than adding it to your resources.

I've found you can press E to scrap, rather than enter. Makes it a little faster.

I would like to add that it's absolutely dumb a hell and stupid that you can get overweight with things while in build mode, and JC trying to angle some things in a certain direction and it automatically locking in place with what you don't want it to pisses me off so bad.
