THEY FIXED IT

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 7:42 pm

I think if it was true...then it would be great....

I wonder about the cupboards and chests in these houses thouhg, are they gonna be safe for holding equipment for an extended period of time, or are they gonna respawn after a certain amount of time...

Having the chests not respawn would be pretty close to ownership of the house/dwelling so I have my doubts...

Also, if you do choose to sleep in the recently deceased house for some time, to use it as a base, will you eventually be visited by relatives who want it back?

That could be a bit awkward... :whistling:

Shouldn't the possessions of the people who "died from natural causes or a freak accident" go to their relatives?

Personally, I think that it should be fully possible to sleep in someone's bed after you kill him.

I also think it should be entirely possible for his family, friends, neighbors and/or the guards to sneak in and kill you while you sleep.

That would amuse me.

This is awesome, I always hated in Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion that when you killed someone the bed was still owned by them. "What the hell? That guy is dead, he doesn't own jack [censored]." Well not anymore at least. :tops:

This is great news, but if it was only for beds, it could be solved like in Morrowind.

I think it is bigger news, like this: "When an owner is killed, all his belongings are disowned, so you can sell his stuff as if they are your own, without a risk."

Or even better: "When an owner is killed, and the fact becomes known, if he has a defined heir, then he comes to claim the ownership of his belonging, but in the middle, the stuff have no owner, and you could claim them as you like, and sell them, but as soon as the heir arrives for the claim, the ownership of all the stuff is transferred to the heir, and the opportunity is lost."

The heir also might take over the quests related to the past owner, as well.

But how long has to pass so that the fact of the death of a person is known? IMHO it should be defined by circumstances of the life of that person and his actual death event.

And also a person might not have a defined heir, so either his belongings would become owned by the first person who claims them or the government, depending on the rules of the Hold that the person lived in.

One of the stuff that belong to a person is the bed, but there could be a lot of other stuff as well, you know. ;)

No, I was sleeping rather soundly for a murderer. I'm going to have to kill you now.

On the issues of insurance: GEICO.MAGIC, so easy, and Orc could do it!

This is great news, but if it was only for beds, it could be solved like in Morrowind.

Morrowind did it horribly. Kill a house's occupants, and you get rewarded with the house and everything in it. Getting a home should be a worthwhile achievement, not something you can get through simple murder.

This is the idea I posited a while ago:
When you kill someone and they have no heir, then it all becomes owned by the town/county/province. Being inside the house would be considered tresspassing. It wouldn't stop you from sleeping, but getting caught would put a bounty on your head, and guards would remove you. Anything left in the house would also be periodically removed.

Additionally, such a house would also become available for sale, at a price that fits its location and quality. If you then buy the house, it's yours free and clear like any other bought home.

I'm amazed that no one's asked the simple question of why you can't sleep in someone else's bed in the first place.

are you saying that if you died tomorrow that your family wouldnt own your possesions?
under a certain age. im pretty sure you dont need a will. and if you dont have one. the law decides who gets what.
so... odds are unless you killed that person. and his entire family. his family will own it.

I'm pretty sure he was referencing the whole "you cannot sleep in an owned bed" message that always popped up in OB

If you tried to, you'd pulled into a realm of Oblivion. :obliviongate:

I think if you slept in someone else's owned bed, they should just wake you up and tell you to get the ef out. (only if they know you are there, of course, no psychic sleep-watching guards plz)

I think this entire forum was made just for this post.

But at this point, why not just make the entire house up for grabs? Dead people can't own a house. Marry their wife while you're at it.

And what if there's no faimily to own his possessions?

Really, though, it shouldn't be that hard to fix, just make it so it's like Morrowind and you CAN sleep in owned beds, so long as you don't get caught, if you do, it's considered a crime. That wat, sleeping in the bed of someone you killed is possible by default, if no one else is in the house.

Sounds like Skyrim needs an auctioneer! The primary method back then, and it would be fun to watch in game if someone actually put em in there.
