They must be stopped >:E

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:24 pm

So, a friend asked me If I knew anything on what SD, was going to do to stop morons hackers.
Now, I believe I heard something about VAC for PCs, but what about consoles users?
Will we have anyway to channel reports, like a button or option?
What measures will be used to stop hacking in the first place?
Thought, Comments, and Answers are welcomes :0

(If this question has been asked before, I apologize, But I didn't see anything in the Search)

I don't see hacking going on in any game i play on ps3 except with cod where people raise there level and persteige because they have to feel good about their pitifull an pathetic life, other then that i have not seen any hacking.

EDIT: by SP do you mean SD? Splash damage?

I think they will use the Xbox live anti cheat (may not be the best anti cheat) but i think that hacking a game like Brink would take years to hack.
No hacks will take less then one month exept borderlands . So i think Brink would be pretty clean but if we are lucky they might use a anti cheat that the Halo games have.

(I fixed that typo, lol thanks xD)

But, Yea, It's more expensive to hack on PS3 since Blu ray costs more than DvD. But if this game is a sleeper hit (Which I hope it is) We're gonna get a lot of good, as well as bad players. I hope your right though =/

HUH?

not to be rude but i find it hard to believe that you have never seen anyone using a hack on PSN / PS3. in the unlikely event that you have not your either (1) a mathematical paradox or (2) under the impression that a sizable portion of the population is not only psychic but world-class marksman.

I do not play COD often so i do not notice hackers, so many kids, losers and jerks on COD and they hack to, what an amazing game.

true. which is why i don't play cod very often. BC2 is a much better game and tends to attract a different type of player ... unfortunately that's not always the case.

it really doesn't matter what game you play ... just watch closely and you'll see one sooner or later. pretty much inevitable.

If people REALLY wanted to get rid of these 40 year old virgins, aka hackers, why didn't they just raid their homes and destrou every electronic device in there? Then break their hands so they cannot hack again. Simple as that, but they would have to do it to every hacker known at once or the stragglers will go into hiding.

there is plenty of cheater hackers on ps3 in some specific titles, almost none in others, it depends. myself i stumble upon plenty of common lagswitchers, few aimbot guys, and quite many net-toolers, I hope SD will have some effective answer other that report option which never helps.

I am curious about this myself. I am looking forward to this game and hope they can keep the hacking to a minimum. I don't really understand hacking all that much. Who are you trying to impress? Some dude setting at home playing a game?

On a different token I've seen a lot of anti-hacking talk and such on the forums so I'm hopeful ^.^

Anyway, SD has taken a lot of measures to stop unfair gaming (spawn-zone turrets to stop spawn campers, very low exp for killing enemies or using your abilities on yourself, takes more pips to use an ability on yourself then on a teammate..) I'm sure they'd do something about hacking as well.

Just so everyone's clear....: a large majority of those who 'hack' in FPS's on any platform are not hacking. Those who do 'hack' aren't usually doing the hacking, they are just stealing/using someone else work.

Yeah. Like in Borderlands, it's MODDING, not HACKING.

So... Hacker Genocide?

Sounds nice. I'll get my crusader armor, for the crusade of the hacked!

The only thing a hacker could potentially do in this game would be to level up all their characters, weapons, clothing etc. And Im guessing that they will try to hack online tournaments or clan matches slightly to have an edge over their opponents. Since there is no leaderboard implemented within this game, there would be no point into hacking. They have nothing to gain, other then being "jerks".

And it's not like they can hack thier levels for any gain - Once at the maximum of Level 20, you're forced to only play against other Level 20 players.

They can't aim-bot - Long rifles aren't one-hit kills (The barett is against unbuffed lights, but at level 20, most if not all lights would be buffed.)

It's not like killwhoring does anything - they'll be dead last on the scoreboard, so they wouldn't feel as good (In fact, they'd probably feel worse)

The only reason a person would hack BRINK is simply because they wanted to, and there aren't a lot of people who do that.

on 360 you can view their profile and report them for cheating, but no chance you'll ever stop them from hacking, that'd be like stopping people from smoking it's not gonna happen anytime soon, least on Brink you can drop out without any penalty like loss of xp or a lose on a W/L counter since Brink gives you all your xp right then n there when you earn it and they don't have a k/d or w/l so if you think your getting cheated just quit.

(p.s. i don't like calling them hackers that implies they have some skills with a computer , i just say cheater since most just buy cheats instead of making them.

This is very true.
Maybe they will have a report player button on the leaderboard or something.

PC gets Valve Anti-Cheat. Yay, Valve.

One hack in any game and your Steam account is banned forever.

Well, kind of. If they detect a hack installed while you are playing on a VAC secure server, they only ban you from games attached to it.
For example, this is the list of games I was banned from after Valve "detected" a hack I had running for windows in the bg:

Counter-Strike: Source (Game I was playing when the infraction took place.)
Counter-Strike: Source Beta
Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 Beta
Half-Life: Source
Half-Life 2 (And all episodes + Lost Coast)
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead
Day of Defeat: Source
Source Dedicated Server
Spacewar
GoldenEye: Source (v4.1)
Dystopia
Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II
Portal
Portal: The First Slice
Eternal Silence
Synergy

So, I had to go and remove them all from my computer. Woohoo.

The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind.

Anyways, Steamworks. It's VAC for console systems, Valve created it for Portal 2 because, as you know, it's on console, and they didn't want hackers to ruin all the fun :celebration: P.S Duke Nukem Forever is going to use Steamworks.

hacking by definition has nothing to do with cheating online so i hear what your saying Dromaeosaur but ill be honest homie ... my desire to lock specific individuals in a broom closet with Ed Savitz and a bottle of Viagra has little to do with whether or not they manipulated the game infrastructure w/o the anonymous assistance of others.
