They said they will listen to fans about DLCs... They didnt.

Post » Thu Feb 18, 2016 8:19 pm

Yeah, pretty much. Ol' good Bethesda, promises this, does the opposite, [censored] on Fallout's fanbase since 2008. What did fans want? Better writing, more quests (settlements and shooting everything that moves dont count, so the number of quests in F4 was pretty low), CHANGES in the actual game (but I am affraid nothing is going to fix the situation). What do we get? Well, new Survival Mode, more hardcoe, deeper experience, just like in hardcoe Mode in Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. I like it, good move.

But the rest? Who asked about robots and settlements? Nobody, I guess. Or damn casuals. Please tell me, who needs it? Is it The Sims game or damn Fallout? Focus on things that matter to people; good story, deep RPG mechanics and unique quests, instead we receive even more needless nonsense that will make the game even more naive and shallow.

Far Harbor? Probably your last chance, but if you havent changed the writers and overall idea yet, I can see the way it will go; more Fallout 4 - more [censored] dialogues, dumb quests and shooting countless enemies. No thanks.

Settlement mod is one of the most popular mods on Nexus, that's impressive considered how many nvde female mods it has to compete with. I saw a lot of people asking for an assaultrons or get Codsworth into an assaultron body, so the demands are there. Whether you like it or not though, Casuals are the people who pay the game the most. Those DLCs are just for you to not get bored with the game and has something to do while waiting for the big DLC to arrive. I do hope they focus more on RPG element though with the DLC, but a lot of the suggestions people ask for are in the DLC. Maybe it's not just what you're asking for.

I hope so. I want to build a settlement with blackjack and hokers. In fact, forget the settlement and blackjack. Nah, screw the whole thing.

It sounds to me like you need to move on to other video games, or back to ones you know that you liked, if the current state of FO4 is upsetting you this much.

Are you kidding me loads of people asked for more settlement stuff. Bethesda is listening, they may be listening to the crowd you personally don't like but they are listening.

I'm a casual gamer, yet I don't care for more settlement stuff. So I'm not sure where the OP is getting "casuals" into the issue.

I would have thought prettifying your settlements would be more of a non-casual's thing? All that time spent on the wendyhouses and such.

Beth were the first ones that finally brought the Fallout franchise to life in 2008

don't you dare comparing those masterpieces to the 'niche'-games that F1 and F2 were :D

you don't have to be a casual to like a different type of games

and there are tons of games that suit the 'old' Fallout fans more, such as Wasteland 2

I recount several people asking for more settlement stuff, a lot of people have said they were going to wait for more settlement content before going too deeply into it. My self included. As far as robots, i have seen two threads on these forums asking about the possibility of robot companions. Specificly the sentry bot and assualtron. The robots add on also adds a questline alluding to "the mysterious mechanist" which begs to wonder if its the very same from the dc wasteland.

You may be getting what you want, although the dlc so far has covered all your complaints, but a lot of people are. Tough break.

I hate that term "casuals" - like someone who doesn't pay 24/8 is somehow not as good as someone who does. I mean, who even thinks that and more to the point, why?

People seem to forgot what does RPG genre stand for. So did Bethesda.

Fans want a lot of things, half of which totally conflicts with what other fans want. Fans hold a wide variety of opinions and want a wide variety of features added to or subtracted from the game. Bethesda would go insane trying to listen to and appease even half of their fans. No matter which fan ideas they put in the game, it will enrage the other half of fans who did not want those things. In the end, as with any other art, the only reliable guide is their own artistic intuition.

I see casuals as people being referred to as playing phone games like candy crush, which is the main argument people have with reports saying that there are more female gamers than males. I guess they link settlement building as a casual element like those phone games or something.

They fleshed out a half baked crafting system and announced a giant story driven dlc with more to come. Why are you whining?

Depending on how you ask, even "hardcoe" fans have very different definition toward RPG. Voiced protagonist, silent protagonist, choices, JRPG (Which devoid of any typical WRPG like choices and have set characters), customization, character creator, etc.

I enjoyed New Vegas much more than Wasteland 2. Also I am not 'old', I just prefer ambitious games. :)
