Silus (The Centurion POW at Camp McCarran)
Affiliation: Legion/None
Tags: Unarmed, Melee Weapons, Survival
SPECIAL: 8, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 8
Ranged: Assault Carbine
Melee: Machete Gladius
How to recruit:
Interrogate him heavily. Once he gets lower than 15% health and you pass a spirit-breaking level 55 speech check against him, he will fall to his knees crying, "Caesar, save me, you bastard!" At this point you can make a deal with Boyd, and convince him that he can be free if he renounces his Legion status, gives all information he has about Legion activity, and follows you indefinitely as a form of "house arrest" and to gain the Courier access to Legion camps unharmed. Showing his current weakness, he accepts these terms. Once he is back to full health, or after a couple days, he will become angry with you and wonder what his reasoning was to make such a horrible deal that defies Caesar's will. You can then convince him that he has doubts regarding his loyalty, upon which he tells you to prove to him why he would have any doubts about the Legion.
Quest: Will of Fire
Silus requests that you show him everything "bad" that the Legion has done, saying this sarcastically as if to say they are perfect. Upon this, you will be forced to investigate Nipton, and find the crying, begging pleas of salvation on a holotape in the back of the Mayor's office, along with three hugging skeletons. This will weaken him. Next, you will travel to the Legion Raid Camp. The Camp will have multiple children tied up around the campfire (and the Powder Gangers if Booted is not completed.) They say they just "cleansed" an oncoming caravan from the South, killing all of the parents and finding "a mass amount of fresh slave meat." Silus will say he would like to free them, but it would defy Caesar's will. You can convince him, if you choose to, making this part of the mission much harder but gaining a lot of karma. Next, travel to Fortification Hill, where a mass amount of slaves have been gathered in the arena and everyone at the fort is gathered around yelling and calling them scum. Upon investigation, it turns out that this group had a plan to escape the fort and was going to enact it, until they were found out. Silus watches with newly opened eyes at the slaves forced to slaughter each other, then the survivor, already mentally broken, gets mauled by multiple mongrels. Caesar stands on the hill above grinning, and yells out, "The impurity has been eradicated!" The entire camp cheers. At this point, Silus turns to you and asks if he has really followed such an evil cause all of this time. You can reply in two ways. One, you can say yes, they are evil, and Silus will denounce the Legion and gain the Faded Crimson perk. He will still wear his armor and will not tell the other Legionaires of his defection, making Legion members that would normally attack still be friendly to you. Second, you can tell him that Caesar is just in ecstasy to remove these impure souls from the world so the will of the Legion as a whole can progress. Upon saying this, Silus will reluctantly stay a Centurion and will gain the Doubter's Denial perk. He will (temporarily) leave you if your Legion reputation gets too low, though, returning to Fortification Hill's entrance.
Faded Crimson:
Silus has denounced the Legion, and feels like he must get retribution for their crimes. Silus will now attack Legion enemies if you do, and will deal 100% more damage to them. In addition, for every Legion enemy he kills (Omertas and other affiliates included), he will deal 50% more damage overall, to all enemies, for 12 hours. This stacks by killing multiple enemies.
Doubter's Denial:
Even though his heart says different, Silus refuses to drop the Legion's ideals. He will deal 100% more damage to NCR enemies. In addition, for every NCR enemy he kills (Crimson Caravan and other affiliates included), he will deal 50% more damage, to all enemies, for 12 hours. This stacks by killing multiple enemies.
