if "they" won- a century later

For those thinking that the Enclave would be around 100 years after releasing FEV... you're wrong. The mutants may be gone, but the mutagens that caused them are not. The Enclave would mutate, and the FEV would do its thing on them. And lo and behold, FEV does what it always does: it goes awry.

Whether or not they could improve the wasteland is a moot point: they are dangerously foolish for trusting FEV; something not only inherently dangerous and unreliable on account of being a biological weapon but has an existing history of not doing what it was designed to do, and doing things it was not designed to do. If any Arroyo residents died from the FEV tests in FO2, that would prove it takes less than 100 years for mutations to occur in "pure" humans and their descendants from exposure to the surface environment that would trigger the modified FEV to kill the host. Tah-daa, FEV does what it was not meant to do yet again. Humanity is toast, as is all other life on Earth. Way to go, Enclave.

Fortunately, the Enclave being on the losing side is likely going to be the typical canon ending in the FO series.

Also, as for the BoS getting worn down from attrition... all Lyons has to do is get a clue and use the newfound knowledge of the Super Mutants' source and home base location, pay a visit to Fort Constantine to salvage together a nuke (or take Megaton's?), plow into the heart of the V87 complex, drop it off, fight back out, and feel the ground rumble beneath their feet. Then it's just attrition against the remaining muties... an attrition battle they have a far better chance of winning.

Yeah but what would happen to the little lamplight critters?

Squire Maxson gets put to use and conveys the seriousness of the situation and attempts to convince them to evacuate.

And if they're still stubborn, the door gets busted down and they get dragged out kicking and screaming like the wild brats they are by power-armored soldiers. Any way you look at it, those muties have to go.

I'd say don't even put the effort into dragging them out. If they want to stay, they can join the super muties

I'm not seeing this evenness. I'm seeing power armored troopers equipped with a plentiful supply of energy weapons supported by airborne vehicles capable of dropping these mini-nukes you seem to be so interested in from the air, and possibly even Fat Men interspersed among the troops themselves (remember you find probably your first Fat Man on a dead Bro in GNR Plaza), with a support personnel in the form of Scribes of the Sword and Shield... against those without power armor, with laser weapons if they're lucky, artillery that will be bomb fodder for the Bros' air support, (apparently) no support personnel and a propensity to flee if going up against such a superior force "ain't what they signed up for".

As the Bros like to say... "You're facing superior weapons and training! SUBMIT!"

You're assuming the vertibirds won't get shot down there not very tough after a missile or two and boom no more vertibird. I'm not seeing this great air support you're mentioning we only see one vertibird they managed to capture not fifty. Also the Brotherhoods resources might not be there considering the citadel is a huge hole in the ground right now. The BoS power armor svcks it's barely more protective then combat armor. You're seriously overestimating the BoS abilities and Lyons competence as well. The man couldn't even find where the super mutants were hold up for twenty years even though the Lone Wander found it in a week or two leaving the vault? Now that he doesn't have optimus anymore he's definitely [censored] because we all know this man can't win battles strategically I mean in 20 years they couldn't win their trench warfare with the super mutants in the mall for Christ Sake and have fallen back cowering in there monument outpost. Where Talon Company is starting to press the supermutants outside of the Capital Building and have already managed to infiltrate the capital building which has one of the largest concentration of super mutants in the game.

Tell that to the ghouls of underworld and explain the scrouge then?

also all your arugements on the Enclave seem to be made on the basis of the FEV they use to get out of control. They have Bio weapons today that don't mutate and spread uncontrolably, it just dies out if not incubated, or if it's host dies. Easy as that. Then the Enclave move in with GECKs and the Vaults and repopulate....Seems to me it's "you don't like the enclave so they must have there plans fail, and a I like the BoS so they will previel no matter how stupid they are!" thing going on.

1: Fly high and move fast and they can't reach you. The Talons' artillery looks to be short range mortars at best judging from the shells' flight arcs. I implore you to blow up a fast-flying Vertibird with any weaponry that the Talons are seen with. Even that one vertibird you get a lift on in BS would give a clear advantage to the Bros. If you spare all the other parked Vertibirds at the Air Base from Death By Tesla, that's even more for the Bros.

2: Those T-45Ds came from somewhere, considering that the Bros out west use T-51Bs. I'd hardly call a huge cache of hardware under the Pentagon a "hole in the ground". They apparently have so many that they issue them to some initiates.

3: I would hardly call a meat grinder in the Capitol building sound tactical planning. If anything it's abysmal tactical planning, on par with the meat grinder you accuse Lyons of perpetuating. So, both sides need a copy of Sun Tzu slapped upside their commanders' heads, but one has superior discipline among the rank and file, and superior implements of war than the other.

4: The power armor svcking is a flaw of FO3, a product of a poor design decision. It doesn't svck in FO or FO2, it makes you superior to anything not also power-armored or simply f'in huge.

5: The Bros have a propaganda victory in restoring the purifier, which would incline recruitment. A rube in power armor with a laser is superior to a rube with inferior combat armor (inferior to standard) and a combat shottie that falls apart easily. The Bros are forking out clean water for free. What's the Talon's propaganda? A meat grinder under the capital dome? A notoriety for murder and raiding similar to Raiders? And then the Bros also have special forces that scoff at muties and Enclave alike (IE: Lyons' Pride). What's the Talon answer to that?

6: Despite witnessing Libby getting nuked from on high, the Bros still pressed forward in attacking the Comm Array, and didn't chicken out. Despite it likely not being "what they signed up for" (I'm gonna drive that aspect of the Talons home 'till you get it ;) ).

If you remember correctly the vertibird has to hover over a position to fire on it leaving it heavily exposed to ground fire which Talon Company has plenty of.

2: Those T-45Ds came from somewhere, considering that the Bros out west use T-51Bs. I'd hardly call a huge cache of hardware under the Pentagon a "hole in the ground". They apparently have so many that they issue them to some initiates.

I'm referring to their base getting an orbital strike and being nothing but a massive grave.

No I wouldn't call it great either but at least they were able to get into the building unlike the Brotherhood of Steel. As far as superior discipline goes I'd call it stupidity instead. Talon company will retreat if things are going bad for them which is smart regrouping and fighting another day where the BoS just fight to last man even though the battle is hopeless that's not being brave that's being retarded. So I think Sun Tzu would tend to favor Talon Company in that respect. As far as weaponry goes there both pretty much equal the plasma while nice aren't the big of a factor neither is the vertibird a stealth bomber.

It is what it is in Fallout 3 flaw or not.

There mercenaries they don't care how there percieved there care about getting paid. Also I don't know whole bunch more initiate reddins wouldn't exactly scare me if was a member of talon company.

Okay someone hasn't played this game in while because the BoS by themselves going against the enclave die very quickly. The Lone Wander and optimus are the reasons the enclave are defeated not the brotherhood of steel. Lyons Pride is also a joke as well there's hardly anything special about them.

What's the Talon answer to that?

Simple kill them like they would anyone else.

Yup and if you leave them alone to do it they get slaughtered easily for not thinking things through and being stupid. I'm going to drive that aspect home until you get that.

Considering the amount of tech recovered from the Enclave in the battles, and also considering the fact that there are 2 sets of T-51B's in the Capital Wasteland (possibly more) they will most likely create new weapons and armor. Even if there is only ONE other set of T-51B left, they can study it and recreate it from other parts. The BoS will grow strong enough to wipe out the SMs, Talon Company, the raiders, the slavers, and any remaining Enclave swiftly.

To note, the Core region is full of T-51b's. They cost around 40,000 local currency, which is cheap compared to a regular pay of a Caravan guard: 4,000 money. If you are a good investor/bandit, you can arm all your friends with T-51b in a single shopping trip.

BOS West Coast Victory: With the remnants of the United States Government defeated, and the last of the super mutants wiped from the wasteland, the Brotherhood of Steel, begins rebuilding the U.S. Wasteland in their own image. Many 1000's of supposed "mutations" are exterminated and within 50 years ghouls become nothing more than a scary campfire story. As the Brotherhood's grip over the Wasteland becomes solidified, local governments are are disbanded at gunpoint, and BOS commandants are installed. The Brotherhood rules the now reformed United States under an iron fist, and looks towards the former Dominion of Canada, and Mexico territories ripe for annexation.

The Enclave West Coast: President Richardson declares a New American Century, following the deployment of the airborne F.E.V. With the death of tens of thousands of mutants, now only pure strain humans remain and Richardson sets about reforming the world. By the beginning of the 24th Century, the President breaks ground at the site of the New White House, as the Star Spangled Banner once again flies proudly over Washington, the Great New American Century has begun.

NCR: With the influence of the NCR continually expanding, and the eventual defeat of the West Coast Brotherhood of Steel, the ideals of freedom and democracy begin to flow and permeate into the darkest and most desperate regions of the American Wasteland. The President of the NCR declares a "War on Chaos", and forms a coalition of willing democratic towns, cities and organizations to help rebuild the nation. By the mid 24th Century, NCR troops remove the last vestiges of the BOS from the Capital Wasteland. With the threat of the BOS extinguished and the Enclave forced to surrender, the NCR Congress officially change the name of the nation to "The Restored United States of America". Democracy and Freedom now become the norm in the American Wasteland.

They might not be that expensive in-game, but they're still hard to get outside the Brotherhood of Steel.
