Thieves Arsenal/Duke Patrick's Archery conflict. Help?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:07 pm

Duke's archery mod causes arrows to break if you trip and fall and don't have any un-equipped arrows in a special arrow-case (a container within your inventory). The special arrows added by Thieves Arsenal are all quest items for some strange reason, and therefore cannot be placed into the arrow case.

As far as I know, there is no real reason to have the arrows set to be quest items, because If I remember correctly the only reason that oblivion has that feature is to prevent the player losing essential objects.

What really confuses me is that in the construction set, the various arrows are not checked as being quest items. So... somehow, a script must be turning them into quest objects.

Could anyone fix this if possible, or tell me how to do a hotfix myself?

Both the arrow case and the breaking arrows are optional via the ini with Duke Patrick.

Also you might get more attention by posting in his official thread.

The http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/514-duke-patricks-combat-archery/ fixes this in any case by allowing a mix of arrows in your quiver limit.

Well, I really did like the limit feature... it's that kind of think that really set duke's mods apart. I didn't really want to change anything with Duke's mod if possible, I hoped I could change the quest item status of the arrows, that's why I didn't post in Duke's thread.

Thanks though, I'll just turn off the limit feature for now.

The new version still has a limit! The difference is you can have a mix of arrows in your quiver (as opposed to your inventory). I believe that TA arrows are no longer broken even if not in the arrow case. You could also try http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11531.

Ah! Thanks, I will have to install that once Christmas break starts. (I want to play the game a little more, but I can't get too involved in it... Last time was bad... And I have high hopes for College. USNA 2015  )

See, when you said about the multiple arrows in quiver, I understood, but... If I had, say, 6 of each of the 5 or so types of arrows... that would be a pretty full quiver not even taking into account "standard" arrows.

Well another ini setting in combat archery is the ability to set how many arrows you can carry (as in not int he arrow case). The max is 60 I believe. So it you can't figure out how to remove quest status on the TA arrows then don't buy as many.

I usually set mine to 30 and rarely have need for more in any one combat even when sniping.

From looking at TA's scripts it seems that you can toggle quest status on/off in the menus by pressing left or right shift, but it also looks like they get set to non-quest items when in gamemode, thus it shouldn't really conflict with Combat Archery anyway.
