Thieves or Assassins

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:09 am

I prefer thieves. I like assassins too, but i think it's much more fun and challenging to sneak through places without being seen. I also like going through dungeons without killing anyone.

Of course this is Skyrim, so you can't clear every dungeon without killing anyone. So, if i have to kill something, i like using daggers or bows.

And i also like Thieves Guild more than the Dark Brotherhood.

So which do you think is better?

Both involve sneaking in bushes. I'll go with thieves, even though I've never played one.

More fun to play as an assassin but the thieved guild is better than the DB bit that's what you're thinking.

I prefer to avoid combat as much as possible and my characters are only interested in acquiring valuable treasures, they prefer not to kill unless provoked. Leave a dungeon/house as quietly as I entered is my goal, so naturally, a thief like play style is how I like to go about my business

Definately assassin. No kill cam more satisfying than watching your dude or dudette sneaking up behind someone, covering their mouth and slitting their throat.

Assassins. No hierarchy is complete without a few cutthroats.

As a stealth player i like both, lurking in the shadows unseen & being a fly on the wall is very satisfying.

Pushed to a definitive answer, i'd pick Thieves. Reason being that i find getting in & out of places unseen an adrenaline rush alone. And probably has a lot to do with my experience & love for the ,Thief , game series. Killing people isn't necessary, but the whole macabre lure of the Dark brotherhood is tantalizing, but i do feel sorry for some of the marks, so i guess my heart isn't always in it, as you can't have those second guessing feelings as a true assassin.

I prefer the thieves.

I mean every assassination can be done by just walking up and selecting the right dialog. Stealing and not getting caught. Now that's fun.

I like both. When i walk into a dungeon i go into stalker mode. Picking off each enemy is very satisfying.

How ever, on heists i never even draw my weapon. I was never there...

I'm in a Thief mood as I am currently roleplaying as Boris, my Bosmer thief. Love the feeling of picking pockets, and bribing guards to look the other way. All without bloodshed.

Getting away with murder is easy. I like the thrill of stealing loads of valuables and finding my friends to sell all that stuff to. Plus I like the Guild Master's Armor.

I'll go with thief.

I'd prefer to drive my sword into an assassin, if that counts.

I prefer assassins in this case. Thief characters ends up to be too boring and even I have started their guild a few times I have always lost my interest to finish the story of it. Assassins are more interesting ones for me and I like to play as professional ones. I sneak in, finish my target and leave the place. No loot, no unnecessary bloodshed, no evidences. I prefer dagger as main weapon but sometimes poisoned arrow from a roof is needed if target has to be killed in middle of street - that's only way to stay unnoticed in such a situation. I'm used to use different disguises when I'm learning daily routines of my targets. I have both DB assassins and freelancers but I prefer freelancers more.

Assassins. Why would I risk stealing and getting caught when i could just kill you and loot your corpse?

If you want a questline that doesn't have gaping plot holes you can fly a dragon through, Dark Brotherhood it is.

...also, their gear is more useful for sneaking. Muffled boots ftw.

Assassins. No one can report you if there's no one alive who can report you. I mean, it's basically "you put yourself on fire so Dark Brotherhood assassins can't catch you".

If I want to play assassin I play Hitman.

You could argue that I should play the Thief series if I wanted to play thief but to me, the Thief games does not add in the other aspects that makes it challenging and fun to play.

Although, in many RPG's the thief class is a mix of assassin and thief with trap skills, lockpicking, pickpocketing and dual wielding or archery at rediculous levels.

I have always enjoyed playing both, but here I vote thieves.

Guild wise, both of them svck.

Purely from my style of gameplay, though? Thief. I like shiny things.

Anyone can kill, even a warrior could get away with murder by slaughtering everyone nearby. But not everyone can steal valuables and get away with it, that takes skill and finesse.

No option for 'neither'? :P

Given the choices, I'd go with thieves. At least when it comes to the TG in Skyrim, they do try to avoid killing people (if only because it's bad for business). The only thing that keeps me from looking for mods to face off against them is that they always seem to involve killing everyone in the Guild, which seems a little harsh. I'd prefer something that would let me destroy them by putting them all in the Riften jail, with bonus points if it involved taking down the Black-Briars as well, or maybe clean out the Ratway and force them to get out of the province entirely. As it is, they're in such bad shape when the game starts that just by not joining them I've pretty much doomed them to continued bad luck and increasing irrelevance.

The DB, on the other hand... I take great pleasure in doing everything I can to wipe them out. :D

Thief, cause Robin hoods/vigilante's are fun.

Also, it allows me to play a good character, and still get all the pretty shinies.
