So I got the notification to start the Under New Management quest. I go to the Cistern everyone is gathered. I then talk to Brynjolf and he says to meet him in the middle of the Cistern to begin the ceremony. When I get there it says that the task is complete new task become the guild master. Nothing happens though, they don't start the ceremony. I talk to Brynjolf and everyone else and they say we'll talk after the ceremony. So, I leave and come back nothing happens. I reload an old save still nothing. I reload an even older save where I have to finish the special job in Markarth go back, same thing happens again. I tried going to the center before Brynjolf, I tried waiting for him to go there first, I attacked guild members and paid the fine, I attacked him and paid a fine. I can't figure out what else to do, anyone know a way to fix this?

I'm playing on XBox, and I have no DLC installed.

from the UESP, don't know if it will help you. Reload a save from just before and try, can't hurt.

• A possible fix is to run outside when finishing your first interaction with Brynjolf. You need to run outside as quick as possible by going to the ladder and exiting. You should see the quest update pop up reading: "Started Under New Management". Afterward, go back inside and proceed to Brynjolf. To talk to Brynjolf, let him go to the middle of the Cistern first, and wait.

I get the quest update that I started the "Under New Management" quest as soon as I give the silver mold to the guy in the special Markarth quest. I tried it though, and it didn't work either. Everything I have tried keeps leading to the same result. Right now I just have my character standing in the middle hoping maybe it's just being slow or something.

I fixed it in a round of bout way. I got sick of standing there, so I kept attacking people and paying the guild fine which did nothing. Then I decided to kill a guild member. I chose a guy that I rescued from the Thalmor Embassy because he's always mad at me even though I saved him. All he did was run but after I finally killed him everyone walked away from the ceremony which had yet to happen. After I paid the fine this time the game acted as if I completed the quest. All I had to do is talk to Brynjolf and I got the quest complete update along with the amulet and stuff. Violence really does solve everything.

Try this as it says, after you first talk to Bynjolf, run out (see previous post), then back in but wait to see if he goes to the circle. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to try. Sorry.

Strange way, but if it works, way to go! Sorry if I misunderstood what you tried to do. I know the pain of getting glitches like that on a game console and trying to work through and around them, I was a 360 player for a long time before I went pc.
