Gonna post about this every day till someone from Bethesda replys. Anyways cant join the thieves guild because i meant to meet matey in the red flagon. Prob is he wont leave his stall and the other stall owners are still gathered around him. Cant reload a save and im 3 weeks into this game and level 81. I an assassin build and i want to join the thieves guild this is a game breaking glitch. What gonna be don about this glitch Bethesda ? Like i said gonna post every day till someone takes note of this. 3 weeks worth ruined by a glitch and i wont be buying DLC for this game or any other games you release if this isnt fixed in a future patch.

Pointless replys i see. I will bump and post all i want till i get some sort of Bethesda reply. This isnt just some random glitch its a gamebreaking glitch.

Did you plant the ring as he asked? He'll stay there forever until you steal/plant the ring for that quests he put you on.

EDIT: Also, if you did plant the ring, did you plant it on the right person? (the dunmer)

And this is neither the best way to get a response from Bethesda, nor to get proper attention brought to a bug.

Yeah i done the quest right. Done it about a week ago and it completed. Then the other night went to do the follow up quest to join and they are all gathered around him and hes at his stall still and ive tryed everythink to get him to go to the red flagon. If you are on the PC you can console fix this and advance the quest. You didn't specify. If you are on the 360/PS3- that is a problem. They are trying to fix the quest bugs, but there are many of them.

Bethesda staff doesn't really read/participate in these forums, much less respond to teenage-angst threats. This is more a dedicated fanbase forums, which is why your incessant bumping and rudeness is not getting you a good result.

This is why you need to make a few saves, so you can go back if there is a problem. Its not hard, and you whining about your ignorance at playing games which may have a few bugs won't help.

Im on the 360 sorry forgot to mention that. And you asume im a teenager why ? Im 39 and really annoyed that 3 weeks and level 81 is down the drain due to a game breaking glitch. Maybe you could point me in the right direction to get a reply from a bethesda person about this glich.

I do keep multiple saves and i done this quest aweek ago thanks verymuch and how was i to know it would glitch ? So before you call me ignorant get ure facts right 1st.

Well you can post it in the software issues sub-forums. The issue will be added to the 500+ that are already there and 99% that will never get resolved.

I suggest just starting a new character and starting with the Thieves guild. Might be fun to play someone who isn't god-like for a while anyway (I know I never liked it).

why does the xbox breed immaturity and gimme gimme attitude. im willing to bet you screwed something up or did not follow the questline or have an open quest somewhere else, finish some of the other quests and misc. things im sure you have. then try going back to thieves guild

I believe you rushed the event too much. This is what happened to me:
I was doing part of the Blades quest and had to talk to Brynjolf. I did what he asked of me, but I did not wait untill the event (his speech) finished. This was my 4th character and I didnt feel like waiting. Instead I talked to him once the objectives were completed. This produced the bug you described. He gave me the information, but after our conversation ended he returned tu his scam speech - once he finished the shopkeepers did not return to their stands nor was the dark elf arrested. They just stood there for ever.

I ignored this as I didn't plan to join the thieves with this character - and continued with the main (Blades) quest. When I got to the point where I was supposed to learn dragonrend shout the game broke - the nord heroes said "Alduin aproaches" but nothing happens. They just stand there just like the NPCs in the market and Alduin never shows up. <- not sure wether these issues are connected, but I did not have this problem with my other characters

Solution (or at least this is what fixed it for me):
1. Reload
2. Do what Brynjolf asks you to do
3. Wait for Brynjolf to finish his scam and the guards to arrest the dark elf
4. Talk to Brynjolf
