Thieves Guild special jobs in Markarth

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:50 pm

Anyone else find it hard to get the 5 required jobs in Markarth? I have literally been sitting here reloading for a half an hour trying to get ONE last Markarth job needed to get the final reputation job from Delvin for that city. Every other city hits with regularity, and still no Markarth after about 25 restarts of asking both Vex and Delvin on each restart. I know its cheap, but I'm trying to finish this. Any tips?

Keep at it, eventually they'll send you to Markarth.
It took me a bunch of restarts too.

Actually I've always gotten jobs for Markarth, solitude for some reason I never get jobs for.

Do you vary the job type you ask for each time, or do you just pound away at one, hoping it goes to Markarth?

I think I kept picking the numbers job and the heist job.

Pick all of them up, higher chance to get Markarth.

According to either the game guide or UESP (can't remember which) there are fewer small jobs for Markarth than any other location. They advise taking every job you get for Markarth because the odds of getting any at all are just that much smaller. So, yeah, racking up the five for Markarth can be difficult and if you're determined to get them out of the way in short order it can involve a lot of saving and reloading until you get one. I probably did two jobs in both Windhelm and Whiterun for every one I got in Markarth.

The thing that was really frustrating for me was that you never knew where a job was going to be until you agreed to do it... only then would the journal update and give you the designated location. Given that you have to do a certain number in each town, and the locations/targets appear to be picked at random, it would have been nice to know the target location first before deciding to accept or decline the quest.

They are pretty diverse to me though I don't really reload to try and get any I just do them, cause I get to do 125 for the safe anyways.

i seen a lot of people talking about reloading saves on this thread, y'all do know you can just quit ones not sending you to markarth at no penalty, it's faster

I know it's hard to believe, but it's completely random. There are no factors involved, it's just a dice roll. svcks. Just keep at it.

I think its all random because I get jobs like crazy in Markarth, but yea its most likely that your jobs are all randomly generated and the random counter hates you and Markarth. :P

I was stuck on Markarth for my last job, too. It only took me around 10 reloads to get it, fortunately. The reality of "random" can be painful. Keep trying, you'll eventually get it.

You know you can take jobs, quit them then ask to take the same type of job and it'll send you some place else right? You don't need to keep reloading a save file

I had to quit a job before because of the target; steal something from Heimskers (or whatever that preacher for Talos name is in Whiterun is) house. I had to quit because I had done the battle for Whiterun and his house ends up getting destroyed in the battle.

But on topic, the one city I get tons of jobs for to the point of irritation are jobs in Riften. Why give you jobs in Riften when the guild already has influence in the city?

What I did was ask Delvin, move to Vex, ask Vex. When talking to Vex, the objective would pop up for Delvin's job. If it wasn't Markarth, I would go to Delvin and quit it and get another job. While talking to Delvin the objective would pop up for Vex, and the process would start over until I got the city I wanted.
