Thieves Guild "Special Jobs"

QUestion since you are talking Thieves Guild. Ive completed the main guild quest and a couple things dont add up. Is the Tribute Chest supposed to refresh once in a while? I have received gold and a gem one time after I finished. ALso, the vault room that Mercer cleared out, its still empty and hanging wide open. Are these things normal? Thanks!

I believe the Tribute Chest spawns a leveled amount of gold/gems every few days (if you don't pick it up, it grows).

The vault room never fills back up unless you put stuff in there yourself (to the best of my knowledge). I personally went out of my way to fill a chest half way with gems, another one with gold ore, another gold ingots, another ebony ingots, and one more with random expensive items such as statue of Dibella, silver candlesticks, etc.

It looks much more like a Thieves guild vault than it probalby did before. Now if someone would just make a mod where we can drop gold on the ground in various sized stacks, I could finally make it RAIN gold, but I have yet to seen one.

You still steal things. You act like a thief. It's not the Sneak Guild, it's the Thieves guild. If I decide to act like a tool about it and just bumrush my way through a heist, I'll just look at it like the orc in Oblivion's DB. He was an assassin. Not a backstabby, stealth kind of an assassin, but nevertheless the kind that left people dead. Same thing goes here.
You are a thief. You steal.

and how does this change the fact that the jobs are repetativ like hell and that the loading literally takes longer then the job itself? i was giving an example why those jobs svck, and what kind of missions would be exactly like them.
saying "you do what a thief does", doesnt make the jobs better, or more entertaining.

if there would be mage quests, 20 of them : visit house a and cast a protection spell for our guild.
then you would do what a mage does: cast spells.
would it be fun to run into 20 different houses and klick 1 time, just because you do what a mage does? i don't think so.

is it fun to run into 20 houses and press one button because i'm doing what a thief does? i don't think so either.

if they had combined the jobs, like: pickpocket person a, steal his money and his ring , break into the house of b, and put the ring into his chest(which is locked).
then the jobs would take more time, make use of different thief skill AND you would do what i thief does.

if they did only 10 jobs, and combined the different goals it would be alot less senseless "grinding".

i dont expect anything of radiant quests. problem is that you are forced to do those if you want to become the guildmaster.
if they were like the ones from the DB (after the quests, no benefit at all), i wouldn't mind them.
but in the thieves guild, they are boring, have no benefit and i have to do TWENTY of them.

You're doing it wrong. (Man, that really is the answer to A LOT of complaints I read on this forum). :icecream:

Take as many jobs at one time as they will let you time while completing the Thieves Guild main questline and I promise you you won't feel this way. They just become another small objective during the cool main missions, as in "ok finished up that mission, now let me just head over to the other side of town and snag that Magic Maguffin Muffin from the Chef's pantry," quickly completed before you head home to drop some loot off at the crib before you head back to the sewers to talk to the Boss.

It never felt like a grind to me at all by doing them that way. Not for a single second. More like, tertiary objectives surrounding the main storyline.

Nice Idea with the Chests, must be looking really nice. Maybe you could take a screenshot of the Chest filled with Gems.

My Tribut Chest seemed to be onetime thing, never respawned for me.

That's exactly what I did, and I felt it worked very well.
