XP thing

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 9:46 pm

I was watching the latest video from :::: http://www.vg247.com...s-villain-base/ :::: and was wondering why xp was not "flying of the person" when they shot at the enemy like in here :::: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVZmN-_O2MY :::: (about 49 seconds into the video)

The second video is an older build of the game. Now the XP counts up so you can accurately see the XP earned Instead of it just flying out and you having to mentally count your XP as it racks up. This and so that they can show the enemies depleting health along with it

over on the SD forums, neil (lead game designer) said that the "xp blossom" was always temporary and has since been changed

Isn't XP counted by how much damage you deal, not if you get the kill?

Like if you drop him down to 50% health, you get 50 points?

I liked the 'bleeding' XP effect as well. Oh well. I love the enemy health display, so I suppose it's a fine trade off. :)

Not only that but the numbers flying out where actually getting into the way of lining up headshots on people.

I really like the new set up they have, gets in the way less and you can see their health now which is always a good thing

Last I heard, that feature could be turned on and off.
If I'm mistaken please let me know.

yeah, too much information on the screen is a pain in the ass for me, I don't have to see all those numbers flying around, blocking my shot.
So I'm cool with the health bar!

I prefer the way they have it now over the old way more detailed and an enemy health bar.

I kind of liked the old way too, but this way is simpler and easier to read.

The new style is much easier on the eyes in my opinion. Plus, with the enemy health meter I'll never die wondering how they managed to survive my assault -- I'll know how barely they're hanging on to life.

Because you're from Australia.
Just kidding. ;)

It's because the link is broken. http://www.vg247.com/2011/04/18/brink-video-feature-and-screens-from-james-bonds-villain-base/ is the working one.

I liked the effect, but yeah, works better in a game like borderlands anyway.
